The 3DS Homebrew Guide [WIP]

Welcome to the 3DS Homebrew Guide!
WARNING: MOST LIKELY NOT ALL THE INFO IN THIS GUIDE IS CORRECT. IF A PART ISN'T CORRECT, PLEASE TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS.
I will divide this up into different parts. Each part will be in a reply on this forum.

1. Intro
What is homebrew? Homebrew is basically a hack that allows you to do more features than the 3DS allows.
3DS hacks are mostly legal, but Nintendo patches them.
Here are some things you should remember:

  • If Nintendo releases an update. Don't update until a hack is released for that 3DS version.
  • Homebrew and Custom Firmware are not the same thing
If you need any help, ask for it in the gbatemp forums.

The next chapter will be coming soon

Like I said. this is work in progress. Also, for some reason, my 2nd chapter was auto-saved.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

2. List of Homebrew Methods
There are different types of homebrew. In this chapter, we will go over some of them.
Browserhax: Browserhax allows you to run The Homebrew Launcher from your browser. It requires you to go to a certain URL. It could also be run by a QR code here: http://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php
Menuhax
Menuhax allows you to boot into the homebrew launcher by holding a button while loading the home menu. The default button is L. Menuhax can also be installed from the homebrew Launcher.
Ironhax
This is a hack that allows you to boot up the Homebrew Launcher from an Ironfall save file. This only works for versions 1.0 and 1.1.
tubehax
This hack allows you to use YouTube to launch the Homebrew Launcher with a proxy server. However, this hack can no longer be used as Nintendo patched YouTube. People had to update YouTube to use the app.

More hacks can be found at http://smealum.github.io/3ds/

You're calling Homebrew exploits, Homebrew as in the (program.games.etc.etc) .Homebrew refers to programs, such as games and utility software, that are made at home by individual people (as opposed to development companies).
This is a "real" list of "Homebrew" http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/List_of_3DS_homebrew_applications

Don't mean to be a dick, but if you want to write a tutorial you should actually know what you're talking about.
