Because you shouldn't answer someone's plea for help with something that isn't beneficial. All you need to do is research and give them the most open and flexible option. Just try to learn more before accidentally ruining someone else's experience.

he also wants homebrew, so the best course of actions is to not update the system past that.

he can use EMUNAND if he wants to play games requiring later firmwares, and can still use homebrew that he wants.

You can update without a cart. Sysupdater is very helpful. Much more beneficial than losing all your well developed kernel privileges.

i have gateway booting with online 3ds tool, but not with the "stock" tuto linked upper , thanks for help, and even if i look at the 32c3 conference, I would not do the update

Yeah, just go about getting emunand set up and you're pretty much set. Install the homebrew loader cia and you'll have homebrew and whatever you need too!
