just back from a local shop and found all N3DS with serial number YEF1018 and YEM1032...seems hopeless but i saw there's still a N3DS with MH4U bundle for €229, should i get it? i cant get its serial number (on the box the label is blank).

Version Number: YEF1014
Region: EU
Firmware: 9.6
System Color: Black

Why is my YEF black instead of white? Should I return it or get a Sky3DS+? Is a Monster Hunter 4 Limited Edition EU New3ds (not XL) a safer bet?

If you want an exploitable console, I would return it. Finding an exploitable N3DS will be much cheaper than getting a Sky3DS+. I'm not sure about the MH4U non-XLs. I know the XLs come on exploitable firmware versions.

That's a showcase box, ask the seller to show you the real box. It's definitely not safe to get without knowing the version, it was also re-produced later and probably doesn't have 9.0

The safest bet for EU nonXL N3DS is to find a new and unused Ambassador Edition. That's what I did. They were released before official release and if it's really unused it means it's on 9.0.0-20E, which is perfect for CFW. That's what I did, got it off ebay for roughly 199€, and you get nice unique faceplates, Smash Bros Faceplates and a loading stand ontop.

And what about a XL model?

And what would be the safest bet for an XL model? Prefer a non limited one.

Anyone knows which FW the nonXL Monster Hunter New 3DS has?

Well I wouldn't bet in mh4 as I said. There was not only one batch of mh4 bundles, they were reproduced with newer models. Doubt you'll find one that's still on or below 9.2.

That ambassador edition is really nice and not that much more expensive than a regular 3ds. For guaranteed 9.2 or below models on eBay or whatever you will definitely pay at least 100 bucks more.

Cant find any Ambassador Edition for under 300€ in germany ..

Maybe there is more info in the older thread. I don't think there are MH bundles above 9.2, but I could be wrong.

I've given up looking for it in Mediamarkt or Gamestop..Imported one australian with YAF1001(as the seller said) now waiting for it :D

Mediamarkt and gamestop only have showcase dummy boxes on the shelves, at least mine did. It'd also highly unlikely to still find a 9.0 to 9.2 n3ds in the big electro markets now, they were released like 9 months ago. Maybe if you have a small local shop in a rural area, there could be one lying around.

I got mine from the local Gamestop down the street. I would also check old Kmart and Wal-Mart's with a bunch of old stock from some time ago.

We have 3 Wal-Mart's in this North GA town, and they all have old stock N3DS and special edition old systems.

well in the local mediamarkt here they put real thing on the shelves.. gamestop put only sony consoles and dsi (don't know why lol) but as a foreigner here it's too expensive and hard to searching around the rural area and looking for a small local shop..especially in the near of switzerland!

I got my MH XL bundle from a mediamarkt ebay auction. The 3 bundles they had sold quickly, but they must have been in the store for 10 months until they thought of selling on ebay.

I don't know how you got the idea that MH4 bundles have 9.2 or lower.

Sure they also didn't in Europe?
The MH4U XLs didn't have a second run in any region; unopened ones will be on 9.2. The question is whether the non-XL MH4U N3DSes are on an exploitable firmware. Nobody has reported one to date (not even the serial number of one which could be compared to the other N3DSes), so it's unknown what firmware they come with.
