Hello there! I have a problem on my PS3(slim cech-2512-b) and it's driving me nuts! It's only displaying at 480p, a few days ago it's displaying fine at 720p/1080p using my stock HDMI and playing MGS V TPP, just bought a new Sony HDMI cable it is still the same..

Tried doing the reset video output, while ps3 is off(red light), pressed power button until it beeps twice, received a prompt that I'm trying to connect and HDMI, accepted yes and the screen turns black for 30mins and reverts to 480p again..

I have tried using my ps2's component cable and it did 1080p though..

Can any1 help me troubleshoot my ps3? I'm dying to play MGS again thru HDMI..

Thanks so much!

bump.. anyone?

Before I send my PS3 for repairs next year.. I'm thinking that my HDMI port might have been damaged or something..

I don't think the HDMI port is damaged since it still displays something. Maybe the cable is faulty? Not exactly sure.

I had a HDMI cable that refused to display anything but 480p and 1080p so I bought a new cable.

yeah, I already replaced my stock HDMI cable to a Sony one, my PS3 displayed 1080p after playing once and on playing the console next day, its back to 480p..

Tried swapping the cable ends, PS3 displayed 1080p, after my next gaming session, can't display 1080p again(back at 480p), yeah it's weird.

Will try to get other HDMI cables as you said.

Maybe the cause if also over-heating? When I touch the back of the ps3, it's quite hot.. I'm now looking for good fans to suck heat at the back of my consoles.

anymore help? Just bought a Wii U and I'm getting 1080p, 60fps for the same HDMI cable and same HDMI port.

Guess, it's really my PS3, the HDMI port or GPU must've melted..
