Discuss everything XCX related.

I just got into XCX a few days ago, still getting familiar with everything. Got a few questions for anyone who knows:

The camera slows waaaay down when inside/near buildings or people. If I'm out in the open, it goes back to the way I set it. Anyone know why?

I have yet to find how to access a map of any sort other than the mini map in the corner. How and where do I find it?

The slow down camera is annoying. I don't know "why" but it's probably on purpose.

The world map will be available on the gamepad after chapter 2 (or chapter 3, I forgot), when you officially join the BLADE.
The gamepad map will allow you to teleport to different area you already visited, and let you see which parts of the map are discovered and completed (mission, item, monster, etc.).

The mini map is not very good. It was better on Wii, with all the current missions location displayed "around" the map if they were farer than your position.
Now you can have only one "main" mission at a time.
Other mission are still marked on the map with a |!| icon but it's only visible when you are near them.

The gamepad map is also not very good.
The region names are limited and you don't know where all the regions are located, even after discovering them.
When you get a mission and it tells you "go to the comet valley", it's not on your map! how do you know where that area is located?
for info, comet valley is your starting place in the game.

Even if you zoom in at maximum, it's not a good zoom and there aren't more information displayed.

The map doesn't have information like missions or characters displayed on it.
only the active mission is displayed on the map.

Just found out the map bit. Is there any way to pull it up on TV or do I have to use the gamepad for this?

it's gamepad only, unfortunately.
There's no way to display a better, bigger map, with full area's name on the TV.
(I edited my message above to add this concern)

They regressed from the wii. instead of improving, they removed some features.
Same for the menu. how do you manage your equipment to remove inserts? There's no way to sort equipment with "contain insert" or with "equipable" for weapons.
why "equipable" is only for armor and not weapon? It's beyond me. why it's displaying unequipable weapon is even more beyond me. you can only equip knives, why displays swords too?

You can only hold 20 missions at a time, while on Wii you could accept them all and fulfill them all at the same time. I guess now they are random so you can't take them all. But they could at least limit only the random ones (basic?), not the "normal" ones.
There's no easy way to know if one of your collectible items are needed for one of your current missions. but that's the least annoying change, it's just another downgrade from wii menus.

When you are in some menus, LzRz are used to change the menu content, but LR are unused? why not affect them to change the character? You need to exit lot of menus to choose a different character.

About my progress now:
I completed chapter 3 and didn't start chapter 4 yet.
I did a lot of map discovery and few optional missions.
I'm at 25h and lv17, Primordia 25%, blade 4.
it's a little hard to level up when all the monsters are way higher than you. I died a lot in one of the optional mission. 10H for 2 optional missions, the game will be very long

At least something new : That's a good thing you never really die ! you just respawn on last checkpoint, without reseting your exp/items/story/etc.
keeping your experience and level is nice, you can try again and again until you can do it.

Cyan either move on to the next continent and kill there what's in your level range and come back later for the higher leveled mobs or choose a spot that fits your xp needs near a fast travel spot and travel back and forth which respawns mobs and items.

You also should be able to kill enemies that are five levels or more above your highest leveled character if you choose small sized ones or tyrants in your level range for some neat level experience.

I hate my life, hell I got this game on 3. Dec, and I've only been able to put 5 hours into it.
Meh, I feel like asking for vacations already. Goddamn work.

yes it's possible to teleport to any location you already visited.
not inside nla? I thought there were different spot you could pick.
I often walk just to be sure I didn't forget any area or missions. some NPC provides you with field info (yellow text icon unlock field missions)

So if I'm at the far edge of industrial, I have to WALK all the way to administrative?

you can teleport inside the BLADE building if you want to go to admin area.
on your gamepad, click on the world icon and select blade. there's a checkpoint inside.

I didn't pay attention to the other location, I just walked run :P

Anyone else getting disconnected from the server alot? Any way to reconnect besides restarting the game? Also, any way to get the hex to disappear from from where I currently am? I can't tell where shit is.

You need to go back to title screen to reconnect.
(fun fact: exit to title does not exit, it reboots the game)

No way to remove the hex, unless the area is scanned with a probe and you press top-right icon to change the display.

I felt like other continents were "for later" and would be more dangerous to visit now.
I guess I'll try them, or just start chapter 4 today.

The continents are all build in a way that allows early exploration right from the get go. While they have higher leveled species for later on and areas that are only 'safe' if you got a specific art from the commando class, they also always got low leveled ones and at least 50% of the jungle you will visit throughout chapter four is in your level range.

Storywise you can move on anyway if your gear is better than what the shop pre 20 offers.

My list of pros v cons:

Pros:
+ Beautiful graphics
+ Enormous world to wander around
+ Works perfectly with the Wii U Pro Controller
+ It has huge mechs and tallsaurs animals out to kill you

Cons:
- Custom characters can't talk (why?! It's 2015!!)
- Text is too small (I can see well enough but when the text is small I need to wear my glasses but they didn't help 'cause the text is still too small)
- Music is bland and forgettable (especially that rap song that kept playing whenever I went out to the field)
- Music tends to be louder than the in-game characters' voices (I did not expect this from a highly-praised 2015 game)
- Method of gaining health back is monotonously bad (really hate how I always needed to QTE press B)
- Some model characters still have that freakishly odd look from its original Japanese release (like Lin and that Gwin guy)
- No optional Japanese language track (Project Zero had it so this makes no sense not to have it)
- Unable to adjust music and voices (again, makes no sense)
- Slow camera (just bad. period)
- GamePad map feels useless (the TV map had more utility)
- Gameplay isn't that great (other games have done it better)

To be honest, the cons outweight the pros and I'm disappointed that it turned out this way because I really REALLY wanted to enjoy Xenoblade X but it's just damn impossible at this point. So yeah this is my opinion about it.

If you happen to disagree with it, that's perfectly fine and you're entitled to your own opinion.

Agreed with this, LOL
I use glasses, and hell, at 2 meters (where is the couch that i cannot move) i cannot see the details of the missions, i must use a chair and place it at 1 or less meters, i need bigger text FFS!!!
I'm lvl20 and just started Oblivia (Valley of Oblivion?) and probably have 10% of the total map discovered.

NO this game is different from Xeno on Wii.
ALL regions are open to explore and I urge you to do so.
Make sure you level up mechanic skill as much as you can so you can set probes in further regions.
As for the levels of enemies: They are scattered everywhere.
You can expect to encounter evel 40 + indigens right from the start of the game.

For the progress of the story you need to complete in-between mission to open up main story missions.
Alsways set maximum enabled quests from the mission board ( 20 ) en never sell found items.
Later in the game you will complete several fetch quests almost automaticly, rather then going of finding a particular item, wich can take a looooooonnnng time otherwise.
When you have a skell ( after main mission 6 ) buy insurance for the thing. You can have your skell 3 times insured, the game replaces your skell after it;s destroyed.
Make sure you press B at the perfect time when your skell is destroyed!

Also make sure you set your goals towards getting skells for the rest of your team.
Upgrade your Skell, but do not forget to upgrade ground gear for later "skell-less"missions!
Do not forget to stay at your class and level up frequently, the game will not prompt you if you max out your class! Stay in the same Class tree for the endurance of the game.
By the end of the game weapons and power will be similar for any class.

Do not forget to level up skill, arts and class of your teammates also!
These are manual tasks!

The collectopedia will grant you BP battle points when you fullfill items labeled with a star.

The font size of the game is hopeless, as is the Minimap and Map in general.
Missing the japanese voices and general audio options sucks.
Though being a "j-RPG" , there are to many western influences I think.
This game is a completionists HORROR story!
