Nintendo-NX.jpg

The company Nintendo has recently filed a patent for a unknown gaming console. Lets break it down shall we.

First we shall talk about the image:
Now the NX seems to be able to connect to multiple devices. Perhaps it may not be the Home/Handled we thought it might be your own gaming family! Some of the devices are wired yet there is a clear indication it can connect to blue tooth or wifi as well (See the small box on the right that says remote supplement computing device) It also seems you can change the settings on how you share your content

Computer cluster not a console... In my honest opinion this is looking more like a make your own Nintendo family. You have the main system that can only download games yes. However you can add multiple devices such as phones and laptops to play your favorite Nintendo games from the cloud

Now that is just my interpretation of this jargon. Let me know what you guys think below as well!

This sounds like an OnLive kind of device or a standalone graphics card that can connect to the Wii U in some way who knows.

They said it will not be apart of the Wii family name. So I doubt they will make something to enhance something they said this will not be. I think I said that right lol

before anyone gets too excited, be aware that patents alone don't mean they will happen.

I hope people realize that, like any other patent, this is a feature that has been toyed around in research and development, but has a minute chance of ever being released for the public. That's why it's written so broadly. Tech companies patent every idea they concept they come up with, in order to publicly disclose the invention, and thus prevent another company from patenting the same idea.

i'm pretty sure NX is going to be android based. in some shape or form. or at least have android compatibility or so. nintendo's moving heavily to the mobile market after all.

I don't like the look of this. I don't want cloud, cluster or download gaming. I don't want a modular system. I don't want DRM eShop-only stuff. I just want a console I can put games in and play them. So actually, what I want is just more games for WiiU ;)
If they go discless I will be sad. That means no special bundles :(

Discless will mean no purchase for me. I like buying games I can actually hold. With my actual hands.
I'd still get it because will Nintendo and next gen sounds good to me. Would I play it as much as Wii U or buy non-nx exclusive games that are on the Wii U and NX then no. Physically buying games is the best.

I don't think they'd ever go discless (if you can show evidence, please do).

here's a might-be-related article: http://www.polygon.com/2013/6/13/44...rried-about-used-game-sales-make-better-games

I personally am pretty much all-digital at this point (never gone past two Wii U disc games and a handful of 3DS) so I wouldn't mind a discless/cartridge-less system. but I know it's a real concern for a lot of people.
