Hello everyone!

Today I received my Wii U basic bundled with Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, and I was happily surprised that the disc had the Firmware version 5.3.2 on it!
It was bought in Sweden from cdon.com on Black Friday.

The following info is on the back of the cover:
WUP P AXYP
TSA-WUP-AXYP-UK4

Cheers

I bought this bundle also. You are 100% it's 5.3.2?? the info i found online said 5.3, but that was for the US game.

Edit: you seem sure. Well that's just dumb luck. I got the system for my kid as a christmas present, without checking up on anything.

I bought 3 wii u's over the holiday sales on amazon. All 3 were mario kart preinstalls. 2 were on 5.5 and 1 was on 5.4. I will be selling the 2 5.5s and holding on to my 5.4 until I find a 5.3.2 or until 5.4 is cracked. I got them for $250 each so I expect to be able to flip a profit on them all. I will not be updating my 5.4 to play online. Seems like an unnecessary risk.

Edit: I think it would be beneficial to add a date purchased column to the wiki entry. This will give people some context for the firmware. I also think the columns should be sortable. As the list grows the random order of things will make the list less and less useful.

The exploit must be run every time too. Nothing currently done on the Wii U is permanent, with the exception of spoofing to 5.5.0 because that overwrites the version.bin file on the system and it cannot be undone.
Whew. A huge boulder of doubt just fell off my shoulders. Thanks ! :-)

As someone who was just gifted a Wii U on 5.4 and zero possibility of returning it to hunt for something lower, is there any reason to stay on 5.4 rather than updating to 5.5 so that I can take my new console owner trip to the eShop and get it over with?

Also, if I took the steps to set up TubeHax from the OP (my cheapo router doesn't allow for domain blocking) and I'm still getting the "Non-authoritative answer" return from kloth's lookup, any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong? I've checked and double-checked my connection settings to ensure that auto-obtain DNS is disabled and that the primary is 107.211.140.065 and the secondary zeroed out, yet still I get the above return when testing.

I do see an icon with a red 'X' showing in the lower-right corner however, stating "Update failed", so perhaps something is working somewhere.

If no one has any ideas, I'm going to try the CCProxy method someone linked a few posts back and see if that goes any better. Figured I would at least try to figure TubeHax out first since it sounds to be what everyone swears by at the moment.

That's what I've heard as well, and can confirm that the Smash Splat bundle I was gifted did indeed come with 5.4.0 out of the box.
I'm in your exact situation, I know how it feels.
Splatoon and Super Smash *Bros.* Brawl Bundle purchased on 12/4/2015 @ FW 5.4.0.
lol

Hmm, I doubt that actually happened.

...I don't suppose that boulder is contagious, is it?

The alternate kernel exploit wasn't working (First time user)

So I followed this guide and it worked flawless for me:

I had the same problem, here's the fix (seems crazy, but worked).
1. Open the internet browser, go to any website, go to home
2. Open configuration, exit to home
3. Open internet browser, power off.
4. Turn on, and try kernel exploit, it should work without freeze (black screen with white dots).

Highly recommended for all first time users! Now it works without fail.

Hello, everyone. I'm preparing to hack my Wii U. I want to change current SD card to new one (32gb 10 class). There are some files on SD card (I bought the console used). Can I just download files from one SD card onto another? How important current SD card anyway?

You should be fine just to use the new one; it's not like the Wii U requires one to be inserted. The one that came with it might have some things you want to keep just for fun, but it's not necessary. Besides, the SD Card isn't required to hack the Wii U, just to play games, extract saves, and load saves, among various other things. It's pretty safe to assume that the previous owner wouldn't have included that on the old SD! If they did, then it's not like it's a big deal.

Thanks.

I've just tried loading loadiine. Something went wrong and I got error "system memory is corrupted" or something. Maybe game files weren't correct. Do I have to do all the steps each time I reload Wii U? (installing loadiine kernel and loadiine?)

Sounds like the used console has a problem. System memory shouldn't ever be corrupted. Try these steps, but obviously don't update online.

Yes, you have to do the Loadiine Kernel and Loadiine every time you restart the Wii U.

Well, it was weird. I choose a game in loadiine, then it automatically started Miimaker. I quit Miimaker and opened it again and got that error.

I'm also getting an error each time I launch Wii U. A pop up is asking me to update system (Error Code: 102-2511), but updating is blocked. I hope it's not a problem.

Never mind. It works :rofl2:

@fiveighteen Blocking Nintendo updates should be classified as two different ways:

1. Easy to setup, but not completely safe since it relies on others: Tubehax DNS

2. Takes a bit to setup, but completely safe since you're the host: CCProxy

While Tubehax DNS works, anything can happen someday with it being down and whatnot. So for more security, CCproxy is the safest route to go.
Using THIS GUIDE you can manually setup your own proxy server on your computer. Blocks updates just fine and it's always safe.

Since Tubehax DNS is better than OpenDNS and most people prefer Tubehax DNS, OpenDNS is completely outruled. So it's just two choices, Tubehax DNS or CCProxy.
Warning: Never use BOTH at the same time!

HI gentlemen,

I am lucky enough to have a wii u on 5.3.2 and im thinking of running this exploit, my problem is i have bought my son mario maker and splatoon for xmas, from what ive read splatton will update the wii u to the latest dash am i right? also if i go ahead with this now can it be undone what i mean is if i want to eventually go back to playing online and normal so to speak will there be any trace of this? will i get banned? i know there is no way of knowing 100% but again from what ive read you have to run the exploit everytime you turn on the wii so im thinking if you dont run the exploit then your wii u is normal. am i right or am i way off?

Thanks for reading and for the help and info!!

If you spoof to 5.5.0, update your games with wup installer instead of the console only, and change the dns settings to use tubehax, you can use discs to play online fine.

You can not reverse/undo/downgrade the spoof, as it updates a single system title. You should be able to update to official 5.5.0 if you really wanted to, or so it's been said. (I have not done it myself.)
