If either of you (Rashka or n3o33) could tell me exactly what you did and what model 3DS you have. I have a N3DS with a hardmod, a SCDS2+, and a Rasperry Pi. I might be willing to do some testing with both brick and restore.
My reasoning is two fold. First so we can confirm the bricks (not to be an ass but they do have low post count), and it could be some gateway agents spreading a good scare. Yeah, I know some paranoid conspiracy blah, blah... The second reason is to test unbricking methods.
off topic: The second time I was burned by a GBAtemp contest (NOT GBATEMP'S FAULT). The first time when I first joined a sponsor of Tempmas backed out and I never received my prize. This time I get burned, because the card I won from the Halloween Pumpkin Contest can brick my machine. This is my luck!
I have been using the latest plug in and gateway launcher 3.5.1 on my supercard since the day it came out and it seems to be fine. I was wondering the same things as you. What are the exact circumstances surrounding the bricked consoles and is there any reliable evidence of it being due to gateway code and the supercard?

There's only two cases so far so not much information is known at this time. Maybe it's like a Trojan horse and activates at random or after so many reboots..all we know is that both cases were using the DSTWO+ before the incident so brick way speculations are rising

That'd be funny if GW checked for evidence of CFW on your system, and bricks if it finds anything. :P

They will defend themselves by saying, "It was reversed engineered from our loader! Thieves!".
That is actually true.
Well then, you'd have to be using Gateway's stuff for that to be possible :P
I mean, you have to use Gateway's launcher to create emunand and stuff, but that's about it. Can even use an old version of their launcher that doesn't have brick code and instruct everyone to use that older version when setting up their CFW, and even if GW adds CFW detection code to their latest launchers, we don't care, we don't need their latest launcher anyway.

I am not sure how they would be able to block GW/CFW from running latest 3DS games.
I mean, GW in .3ds format maybe, but then the games could just be installed as .cia. Anyone who bought a game legitimately on the eShop can make a .cia out of it then modify it so it can be run on anyone else's 3DS and then release that tot he scene, and it should be working.

I mean, they released AP for new games, and the only reason Sky3DS users are the only ones affected by it is because they just can't modify the game to bypass the AP since it would become unsigned. For GW/CFW, this is not a problem because people can look into it, remove/bypass the AP code, and have it run fine. I mean, looking back at the DS, games since like 2009-2010 had AP in them, and it was bypassed every time within days or weeks of release (sometimes even bypassed on day 1 by certain flashcard makers that just had really good Anti-AP code.)

I think we'll be fine.

How would Gateway be checking for unofficial CFW when you aren't using any of Gateway's code when booting rxTools?
The emunand itself doesn't contain any of Gateway's code, it is simply a copy of your sysnand onto a hidden partition of your SD card.

Yeah and apparently as far as I can tell the one guy that's on this thread claiming it says that he had a gateway card in when his console died.

I've been playing on a 3DS XL (german EU version) on FW9.2.
My genuine Gateway was working like a charm with Emunand 9.2.

I've bought a DSTwo+ to only have one cartridge with me if I'm on a business trip or something with long traveling.
So I've setup the DSTwo Card with an separate SD-Card for separate DSTwo+ EmuNAND and the DSTwo Launcher.dat.

The whole start an setup thing takes 3 days until everything was what I wanted.
I've started DS2emunand several times, then I've started my old sky3DS (only to see if it still works, want to sell it).
After that I've started the genuine Gateway Emunand (with genuine GW card). I got a short Dragon logo and then a double white screen.
After 10 Minutes the console shut down.

That's the moment I got the vluescreen on every startup

So how can I run .3ds games on cfw?


Gateway is 3ds scene. Without them you'll still be stuck with shitty stolen yellows8 cfw.

the same end* result. sorry you actually needeed that clarification. no, you cant run .3DS files, but you can install .cia files with the same end result of you playing that particuar game.

Weren't Supercard the king of flashcarts last gen with their DStwo, I dont recall any DS flashcart that could match the features that it allowed for with GBA games in Slot 1 being the coolest thing as far as I'm aware no one else could do.

How the mighty have fallen.

Because honestly GW is better than the CFW's. Not saying that they are bad, its just Gateway has alot more to offer.

im really doesnt. there isnt a single thing at this point that gateway can do that cfws can't. only real difference is the format the games come in and the method to play them (GW plays .3ds files but they need to be patched to play online, cfws play .cia files, they don't need to be patched, but do need to be installed beore playing, both methods are incredibly simple). beyond that, as i unerstand it, cfw can do things that GW can't like installing and playing GBA VC titles and injects as well as DSiware. at this point, frankly, cfws have more to offer. also, there is the added benefit of never having to switch carts again. i have my r4i gold ds flash card in which has all my ds games, and all my 3ds titles, dsiware, gba vc titles/injects, and homebrew are within the 3ds menu. For GW you need two carts if you want to play DS titles as well. it really is convenient never having to change carts.

Yeah and with the easy cia converter it takes minutes to generate a xorpad fron the nccch bin and convert to to cia yourself GG easy game.

only took longer when i wanted convert 6gb of .3ds at once

Ya know something, mine is working fine. But I just thought I would see if anyone is posting on the actual supercard forum and nobody is saying anything about any bricks, but I do see a few people complaining that after they updated to 1.04 their DStwo+ stopped working. I think I will go back to the last version and use the 3.4.1 launcher for a bit.

Looks as if super card removed the 1.04 update from there dstwo plus site and put back 1.03.
Yeah they did too, but it could be related to the people posting on their forum about after updating to 1.04 their card stopped working. I think I'll play it safe and roll back to 3.4.1 launcher and 1.03 plugin til it gets sorted out.
