I tried editing otherapp and it kicks me out now. Anyone with success care to break it down? Maybe even provide their edited file?

Works great for me.

Also, for the ones who have CtrBootManager (or similar) as their boot.3dsx and who still want this .cia to boot the homebrew launcher without keeping a key pressed, just open the payload (I used the one it automatically downloaded) with a text editor (I used Notepad++), look for "boot.3dsx" and replace that with any string of the same length, like "bohb.3dsx". Well, actually I didn't try with a different length but I feel like it wouldn't be a good idea. Then, of course, your .3dsx file that correspond to the homebrew launcher should be named the same way, "bohb.3dsx" in my example.

Now your 3DS autoboots on boot.3dsx which is CtrBootManager, and this .cia launches bohb.3dsx (or whatever you named it) which is the homebrew launcher :)

I tried the same thing but it errors out and reboots my console every time. It loads fine with the original hbl boot.3dsx though, without modifying its file name, but pretty useless for me as I auto boot into pasta (which is my current boot.3dsx) as an entry point.

Edit: The readme makes reference to a 10.1 payload, specifically a new3DS 10.3 payload. Gentlemen start your Speculation-A-Trons!
Speculation about what?

In that case you could change your menuhax ropbin payload in hxd to point towards a different .3dsx instead of boot.3dsx, then yellows8's homebrew launcher cia would be able to use a payload that defaults to boot.3dsx without it interfering with CBM :3

This is what I've done, my menuhax on sysnand reads from nhax.3dsx while my homebrew launcher is on boot.3dsx

Probably speculation that Smea broke 9.6 encryption on n3ds? Although as he is against piracy I don't see why he'd be working on that.

tried that too, keeps kicking me out.

I actually don't use menuhax as a way in, I've been loading with a cubic ninja cart with ninjhax 2.5, autoboot pasta's 3dsx.

Eh, might just have used a random example for that.
(Also smea didn't have much to do with this, it was made by yellows8 :p)

I'm kind of surprised he made this, to be honest.. Great release, though. I'll check it out soon.

Can this be used without the WiFi enabled after the first time you use it?

Oh and can I choose to load 2.1 payload instead for more stability?

I'm still hoping we'll see another version which uses the various svc*Memory commands to parse and load a boot.3dsx file so we don't lose access to the home menu (sure, you lose access to the payload that way, but the services are hardly an issue, the base CIA itself could provide all of the commonly used services, including non-broken NWM::Ext), but it's definitely a great start.

Sure, it seems to work fine for me. The only snag I had in my particular case was getting it to use the right payload (I spoofed my nver and cver to 10.3 on my 9.5 emunand, so it downloaded a 10.3 payload, which obviously won't work). Once I manually replaced it with one from 9.5, it's been working fine ever since.

So you need a method to install cia like gateway or rxtools- then use fbi to install it. Why would you want the cia version if you already have cfw?
yeah exactly i don't get whats the big deal?
you can just launch a CN CIA and in 2 more clicks you do the same thing it's not like it's signed right?

It's faster than waiting for loading screens and such (it loads in about a second on my N3DS), and you don't have to pirate a game/create a CIA out of a game to use it. It still has the disadvantages all of the hax payloads do though, you can't exit to the home menu when you're done, and you can only load limited sized 3dsx files (need Youtube/etc, but in that case, just use the CIA versions of those homebrews).
