They didn't say they're working on it, they said it might be possible there would be a solution in the future.

They said *might*. A lot of things *might* be possible in the future, but this doesn't mean they're necessarily working on them right now.

i'm willing to bet that New 3DS will still have problems on 9.6+ even if this turns into a new kernel exploit...

Well, almost all of the CFW developers don't care about 9.3+ users, Is really nice to know that RxTools is trying to get 9.3+ support.
I'm pretty sure everyone is trying. They're saying it doesn't work past 9.2 but that it might be possible in the future (e.g. when/if an exploit is found later)
