@mashers, can checkWaitForLaunchSoundToEnd(menus * m) ever wait for no time (say there is no sound effect)? In that case, there would be no need for an option.

EDIT: nvm, there would need to be an option in the case a user does not want a sound effect... Brainfart.

Heh, no worries. It won't wait if there is no launch sound, and yes it would be trivial to make this optional. I can do it later.

Does it need to be made optional?
Nah your way of doing it sounds better. Theme makers must choose short sounds to not keep people waiting a couple of seconds before opening any app.
OK I'll make delaying til the end of the launch sound optional. Hopefully the 3 second delay won't be necessary any more and that can be removed too.
The good thing about having the option is that if you are testing stuff you can disable it and work more quickly without having to wait for the sound to finish each time. I personally use ftp and launch and exit from the app many times to test many stuff when I'm working with themes.

Did either of you expect this to go from a Homebrew Launcher with grid layout TO a Homebrew launcher with a million and one features with all the bells and whistles that is more fun to mess with than ninety percent of the Homebrew that it is made to launch?

To add more features, I think the setting options will have to be separated from the launcher as a independent homebrew finally.

It all started 87 pages ago. I actually thought for a while that my suggestion to make the launcher open source would go nowhere. Now I swear I am spending more time listening to the BGM of my themes than doing any homebrew at all, just like you said!

So no, I had no idea!

Here is my spark if you are interested:
Has the source been released yet? I wonder if it would be possible for us to tinker with the code a bit (perhaps get BGM going, because I would actually use homemenuhax if I could get completely custom themes...). I'm quite sure someone could help you with getting your source on GitHub (including me) if you still need it. Maybe I just missed the post with the source code .

Sorry I've been busy as hell so I haven't had much time to skim through the changes, but I tried the launcher updater and it updated to Beta 102, but now booting into HBL takes like 10-20 seconds and exiting from apps takes about 20 seconds aswell, this all being on the N3DS btw, also when you swap from 2 apps, like lets say, FTPony, SDM, then HANS, the third app automatically hangs and crashes regardless of the order. Did I mention the 20 second interval between app switching :P

Yeah i updated to 102 a little while ago today and noticed similar things... like there being a delay between when you hit A/tap an app to load and it actually loading.
I reverted back to 93 i had previously and it's all snappy again.

This has been discussed for the past two days. Please read the thread. Sorry if you don't have time to read it bit I also don't have time to keep summarising it.

We know what the problems are and how long they've been discussed. :P (well i do anyway, can't speak for anyone else).
I was just pointing it out, didn't see anyone else besides Misledz mention anything similar to what i mentioned (i only glanced over the last few pages I'd missed though). And i reverted to 93 where i didn't have those issues, simple as that. :)

Wouldn't it be possible for the launcher to keep the last used app highlighted when you exit it? Sometimes I find myself accidentally booting my cart through regionfree because of that.

Hey guys,

I've just pushed beta 103 to GitHub. This is now available in the online updater. This adds the following amazing updates by @RedHat:
  • No longer crashes when sound fails to load!
  • Sound now loads correctly when in random mode
  • No double sound loads
I really am so grateful to @RedHat for his hard work on these issues. It has been quite stressful (especially given the week I'm having...) to try to resolve these bugs, and the support is really appreciated.

In addition, this update removes the 3 second delay before booting apps.

Thanks! Love your online updater.

Is it possible we'll get an online updater for all homebrew apps a la Wii Homebrew Browser?
There's been a few "Homebrew Stores" for a while now. But they always get outdated.

I believe somebody is currently working on one though... DownloadMii 2.0 iirc.
