I'm gonna be getting a Sky3DS pretty soon and was wondering what I can do with it. I have the latest firmware and I was hoping that there was a way to install CIA, homebrew and/or CFW with this, as well as emulators and regular DS games. Also could someone tell me about this NAND (emuNAND and sysNAND) thing I keep hearing of?
What I could really use is an extensive Sky3DS guide lol.
Or a better alternative to achieving what I want to do with my 3DS. (Money is no issue)

You cant use cfw, ntr, cakes or install cia on the fw above 9.2

"THE CENTRAL HUB FOR ALL YOUR 3DS HOMEBREW NEEDS!
IMPORTANT: IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO INSTALL CIA FILES ABOVE SYSTEM MENU VERSION 9.2! THAT ALSO INCLUDES ALL NINJHAX2/TUBEHAX/IRONHAX USERS.
THERE IS A LIST OF 3DS HOMEBREW IN THE WIKI. PLEASE HELP MAINTAIN IT."

If you are on the latest firmware, you do not need to worry about emunand and sysnand. Kernal exploits are not possible at this stage. Sky3DS pretty much behaves just like a retail cartridge. Does nothing less and nothing more. (Which means no homebrew, CIA, CFW and DS games)

What you can however do is to use a rom dump of one of the two exploit games (Cubic Ninja or Super smash bros) iirc on the Sky3DS and then run the exploit from there, which will enable you to run homebrew.

Think most of the other exploits (BrowserHax etc) are fixed in the latest firmware update from Nintendo.

I was actually looking for that guide lol, thank you. I saw it before and lost it.

I'd rather just buy Cubic Ninja and use the Sky3DS as is then lol. It's a good thing I bought an R4 3DS Dual Core beforehand, even though the firmware on it sucks. It does suck that I can't use CIA or CFW, but with Cubic Ninja and Sky3DS I'll have what I need to do the things I'm looking for anyway. Thank you! :)

If you want to condone piracy, Once you have the Sky3DS, download cubic ninja from one of them ISO sites and use the sky3ds with that rom for the exploit.

I normally love condoning piracy if it's for me :P But I think buying Cubic Ninja would be a lot more convenient for me so I won't need to write another 3DS rom to the Sky3DS when I'm done using it.

Lol. This is like saying you will buy a new house when you've finished making a mess in your current one. Cause you'd rather spend $500,000 than spend a day cleaning.

Adding roms to a Sky3DS is not hard, and Cubic Ninja costs almost as much as a Sky so pretty silly to buy a copy.

Cheapest and probably better alternative is to get a second hand 3DS system for cheap (with firmware less than 9.2) and then softmod it to allow roms and homebrew.
Main disadvantage I can see with the sky3ds is that it is rather awkward to get to a specific game (having to constantly cycle through with delays). However, sky3ds just works :-)

Essentially what you can do on the SKY3DS is play any region of game (using the help of Regionfour) play New3DS exclusives (new3ds only) and play converted eShop titles. I'd recommend purchasing Steel Diver and Powersaves to get a private header and play online with no risk.

Yeah, you're right. I'll just get some Mii Plaza games with the rest of my money. I am lazy, but I really shouldn't be THAT lazy lol.

That's what I had in mind after reading the guide on private headers :P

As much as I want to get another 3DS system (preferably a New 3DS), I couldn't bear keeping it below the latest firmware version.. I'm waaaaayy too OCD to do that. Besides, a New 3DS is going for about 200 bucks nowadays.

I would have thought being OCD would help you keep it on the right firmware :-p It is the people that are careless who end up with an updated system.
Maybe for some people lol. I purposely update my console as to always be up-to-date. I also always enjoy new things and new features, no matter how little they may be. I do the same thing with my computers and other consoles, it's just a different kind of OCD for me :P Just gotta keep up-to-date with stuff. I'd probably stay below the latest firmware though if it seemed natural.

Emunand is a copy of an up to date firmware located on the SD card that the 3DS uses (And keeps the original firmware in the device intact)
Oh, that actually sounds awesome. I haven't heard of it so plainly put before. I might try it out then. Just gotta find an affordable N3DS below the latest firmware lol

Also worth mentioning is Nintendo introduced a new antipiracy measure, which sky3ds likely can't beat (its firmware can't be updated) and which will probably be included in most (eventually all) new games.

Yikes... That would certainly suck. Maybe Sky3DS will be able to get past the new anti-piracy measure. The might update their cards or something.

Nope, Sky3DS cards are unupdateable. If they DO work out how to get past it, everyone's going to have to buy a new Sky. Your current Sky3DS cards are never going to be able to play the new AP games. (Unless Sky can work it out using HANS - some people have said this is impossible, though they haven't given reasons)
