Hacking Installing CFW (N3DSXL, 9.0 version)

Guys I got so confused today trying to understand what do I need.
I will get my N3DS in a few hours and I would like to install CFW on it WITHOUT the use of Cubic Ninja/Gateway!
I got so confused trying to find an updated installation guide, I need a CFW that will allow me to use a homebrew to play: 3DS games (with online if possible) and DS games.
I saw that launching RXTools requires internet connection everytime and since most of the time I will use my N3DS I won't have one :\.
What CFW do I need to install and please send me a link to how
Do I need RXTools or Reinand?!
P.S. - What does "MSET" mean? xD

From memory, YouTube comes preinstalled on N3DS consoles. Use that to setup TubeHax, and from there, install ThemeHax so you don't need an internet connection to boot into CFW.
You don't really need to worry about playing with MSET anymore.

Browserhax will let you run homebrew launcher.

Put PastaCFW (+ modified PastaCFW.3dsx) and FBI in your SD card.

Run PastaCFW via browserhax, and run FBI via browserhax once again.

In FBI, you should be able to install CIA installers.

I'm in the same boat as this user. I went out of my way to find a 9.0 new3ds xl and it seems like people are always referring to the o3ds and don't specify whether or not new3dsxl is compatible.

I've read as much as humanly possible and people just keep posting vague instructions and leaving out key details, like how to format sd cards intially.

Are some of these hacks emulating gateway without a card/CN/OOT? Adding DBS and title DB files to SD card? Put this in sd card in any specific folder? Run PastaCFW? What do you use in interface to make it "run", it there an actual option you can press that says reboot to CFW? Is it like a self extracting file? What if I don't have youtube installed, which according to my N3dsxl I don't have it installed and have to connect to eshop to download it, but will that force me to update FW which I'm trying to avoid? What about devmenu/bigbluemenu/cia installer/FBI? What happens if you brick, but have emunand and can somehow boot off the SD card despite the brick?

I also don't want to connect to the internet just to boot up my device in the mode where I can play .cia. Other devices were a joke in comparison to the complexity and risk we are taking with these consoles in the off chance we forget to boot a certain way one day and permanently brick it and then possibly have to hard mod or throw it in the trash.

From the sound of it rxtools sounds very useful, but possibly unnecessary now, but emunand and sysnand may be essential, but what about reinand? What about gateway? Is it less risky/more stable/likely to continue support for a while? Holy mother of god, how did any of you feel confident doing this?

I did write that I read as much as humanly possible. All of the questions I asked were not intended to be rhetorical. I've been reading here, reddit, maxconsole, watching youtube videos and trying to get access to 3ds iso as well.

I read that one, I followed instructions and I didn't feel comfortable moving forward with it. What is the risk of bricking? I'm trying to use a 64 gb microsd card I formatted to fat32 with a 64kb cluster size. Is this acceptable or is it more likely to corrupt? Should I use the 4gb card I received and then change over to a 64gb card?

The only risk of bricking is if you make a mistake when you update your emunand, but you don't have to do it now. And sdxc cards work fine as long as they are formatted in fat32.

3ds onlt, you need a ds flashcart for ds games (exept the dsiwares), there is no other way.

I got broswerhax to work. I was in the homebrew launcher, but didn't see cakes there to install, just region free launcher and fbi. How do I "start" cakes?

What do you think about using Reinand instead of the rxtools? switching the rxtools.3dsx with Reinand.3dsx will it ruin something?

No it works too, bu why would you want to use reinand instead of rxTools ?

For me reinand has been great for our N3DS since the 1.2 release. Very stable and has no issues that pop up.

Okay if you say so. I will follow the guide.
One quick question if you may, I followed the guide and formatted my emunand through gateway. Next step is:"Once it has finished, shutdown your console and restore your micro-sd card content." to make sure I got it right. After I shut down my console they want me to copy all of my back up files back into the micro sd?
