I'm not asking for help i'm asking if it is possible to use the kernel exploit to boot an application or menu that lets you install updates from an sd card or any other external device. Also i know we don't have this type of thing yet i'm just asking if it possible on the current kernel exploit.

Yes, it actually is possible, using MCP_InstallTitleAsync(). But I have no idea why you would want to do this.

Reading back a few pages, around 20 or so, and it's shameful with all of the negativity against others and the developers...getting all of these exploits takes a lot of work, and having people put it down as "us being hogs" and keeping it private is also shameful. Do you want to know why it's shameful? There's reasons behind us keeping stuff like this private.
  • Behind FW spoofing, the latest update can't be accessed with an exploit to the public, or online gets trashed. See what happened with Ryan, and how people blew up? Times that by 50.
  • Risking it getting patched is another reason. If we release it the second we find it, it will just be patched in the latest update because Nintendo learns how we did it. This new one is really reliable, and we hope to port it to as many versions ahead as possible. It would be a great waste of our time t find a new exploit per version.
  • Haven't I already said a trillion times to you people, about how UNRELIABLE it is? It's not like the 5.3.2 one, with the race attack failing, it's the userspace itself failing to even launch code. Something has to be found through a series of trial and error testing, finding that address, doing a little bit of math, changing around files, and then building and hoping it works. That's not happening between the community.
So if you want to be negative about this and say we're "too private", read this again and rethink your statement, please.

Although I am not an active dev for Wii U exploits, I TOTALLY get what you're talking about here. As politicians say: "It's better to please some of the people all the time, than all the people some of the time." Also, if someone spends two pages of this thread attacking you, why should you even care?!? They clearly are too stupid to even understand what you're doing The most they can do to you is spam the thread until a mod bans them!

The thing is lets imagine it wont be patched until the end of the life of the wiiu, that means the exploit wont be released until the wiiu is totaly abandoned by nintendo?

I agree to all the other points, sure never release it until its reliable and user friendly but if the time comes where the exploit works perfectly and being hold back just becuase it wasnt patched that could be stored for years to come.

All in all im on 5.3.2 and im a guy that can wait fine, what bugs me is not being able to acess e shop to get some VC games to start testing injects and such.

Whats the benefit of emunand again, I swear someone told me but I forgotten
Basically, total control. Should allow you to install any title you want, and do selective upgrades so you have access to the latest OS but browser is still old and exploitable.

We're not saying that it won't be released until they discontinue it, for all we know it could already be patched in the next in-progress OS version. Like we've said many times before, we don't wanna release something that doesn't work well, and until then you may as well shut up since you wouldn't want to use it anyways :P On most Wii U's the exploit doesn't work at all yet because of the way it works.

It basically lets you have two Wii Us inside one. emunand is a copy of the actual NAND memory where you can update it and install anything you want, but the real NAND is still the old exploitable version. In addition to all the benefits that NWPlayer123 mentioned, you can also go online using emunand without updating the real NAND to the newest un-exploitable version. A downside of this is that it could allow for online cheating on games like Mario Kart 8. (Which I'm NOT looking forward to.)

For me, the kernel exploit has worked perfectly every time. I haven't seen a single dreaded "Race attack failed." screen yet. :O

Hey guys - So just got a Zelda Wii U refurb and it'll be here this week (:toot:) but I have a few questions. Based on some info in this thread, it looks like 5.3.2 is the golden FW version, but there's also a 5.5 exploit which I know could also take longer to dev out.

So if my FW is over 5.3.2, is it better to upgrade to 5.5 out of the box and leave it?
If not, looks like I can get MarioParty10 or Splatoon to reach 5.3.2 - I know they just got released, but are there any newer rev's of these games to be worried about at all like SSB for 3DS?
Is the browser included unlike 3DS cart updates?
Finally, is there anything else i should be aware of in the WiiU scene (outside of vWii), or we're still waiting on MN1 and co. like the OP states?
Glad to see some headway in the WiiU scene, I'll be setting up my vWii first for sure so that can keep me busy while I wait it out. :yaywii:

Does that help in the development (which you don't do), or in waiting for the piracy we don't have (the only reason you're here)?
It's a discussion thread, people are allowed to ask questions pertaining to development even if they aren't a programmer.
Oh, and USB Loaders =/= Piracy.

He gave you the answer, don't disagree because it's not the answer you wanted to hear.
How is saying "ok thank you" disagreeing?

Take a chill pill.

Because he was being a knob and asking the same question repeatedly?

It's cool guys, just let it go. It just annoyed me because it started with:

Is it posible to update to wii u firmwares offline like firmware 5.3.2 by using the current kernel exploit. Because i'm below firmware 5.3.2 But i don't want to upgrade online because i want to use emunand.

Which seemed to me to be asking if he can update without a game, which is a no at this time for him/her. More so if they are asking these questions.

I'm Talking about doing it without having to use a game. That's why i asked if you can do it by using the current kernel exploit to make it so you can update offline.

This to me was asking if it's currently possible for him to do, which it isn't. Of course it's supported by the kernel exploit, whether it requires IOSU or not, as kernel would likely lead to that exploit much easier. Of course, I'm only looking at stuff from a logical perspective, but it still rings a "No" if someone would ask at this time, if you ask me. (obviously)

I'm not asking for help i'm asking if it is possible to use the kernel exploit to boot an application or menu that lets you install updates from an sd card or any other external device. Also i know we don't have this type of thing yet i'm just asking if it possible on the current kernel exploit.

And this after those other posts, seemed to be asking if there is an app do this. So again, I said no. I remember MN1 saying USB access is likely not possible without IOSU after looking into it, though I may have missed something since then. And I figured the SD slot was on the USB controller. They are all fairly similar questions, just badly worded or badly misunderstood by me. There's no reason to go bating a flame war. If I wanted to fight with the guy I would of went to PMs after the last message I left for him. HE let it go, I let it go. That's all that was needed.

I'm sorry I had to explain this.

SD access is possible with only kernel access by hacking SSB4, to which IOSU already grants SD access.

Mii Maker has access too, and apparently the Wii U Menu does (I didn't think so, but that's what crediar told me). To everyone, USB storage access does not seem like it will be possible without IOSU access. Other USB devices probably work fine, but MCP has a lock on USB storage devices.
