So I am not sure exactly what happened. I installed Hackmii/HBC just on vWii. Started messing around with IOS to get wiiflow to work. My son then popped in SSB for wii u and it sayed it required an update. He of course updated (or tried) it not knowing. I come back a few days later, It would not update (error 162-3006). I go though all sorts of forums trying all sorts of methods (blocking updates, changing vpns, etc) but to no avail. Since I couldn't (and really didnt need it) get wiiflow to work, I go in and delete out HBC and Wiiflow. I try to update again and same error. I do a reformat, same error. Now I am trying to re-install hackmii and it hangs on teh scam warning screen. I cannot get HBC back on without this (I believe). Any ideas on anything??? I am up for a factory re-install if someone knows how to, it seems the reformat via wii u menu does not do a full reformat, more of a partial.

Sounds like you modified a vIOS under 200, that breaks updates on the Wii U side. A factory reset won't help. There's really not much you can do without the HBC, though :(

usually there should be no reason for the hackmii-installer to freeze if you get it to start in the first place...
Did you try using another freshly formatted SD and setting the exploit back up from the start?

Also, are you absolutely sure that it froze? It usually takes somewhere between 1 minute to 5 minutes for the "press 1 to continue" text to pop up
Also this, the timing with it appears to be somewhat random. never heard of anything above a minute but it varies.

If you have corrupted/modified your vIOS(s) and are looking to get some help on here, it is recommended to post a syscheck, first.

according to the situation he describes, syscheck won't be working until he got HBC running again, at which point he could just reinstall a full set of vIOS through Modmii (or however it was called).

If he can get hackmii installer working on a disc exploit, then he can get syscheck HDE to work, as well.

They are both boot.elf files, and will execute the same way (not freeze, obviously).

No, do NOT do this! Unless something has changed while I was gone, ModMii installs fakesigned Wii IOSs, which will completely brick the vWii. You need clean vIOSs that were the same version as the corrupted one. A syscheck is the most helpful thing at this point, so we can at least see what's wrong

Wait, there is no Modmii-Mod that uses vIOSs?
If not, ignore my post. Sry for the wrong suggestion, then.

I don't THINK so. I've been off the 'temp most of the summer, so there MIGHT be, but not that I'm currently aware of. And it's ok, now you know :)
Nah, then there probably isn't... i jsut assumed there was, since most of the bigger brews where ported, and Modmii is basically nothing but a NUS-Downloader for Wii, so it seemed not hard.

I have waited up to 20 minutes for hackmii to load. I also did several fresh downloads of the files and fresh formats and still no go. I found the files I used previously and one was an iOS for 50 or 58 (not at the files atm) but those files came from another thread here. And I cannot get Hbc loaded since hackmii won't load so I cannot get a sys check.

I don't get it, but you can get the scamwarning to load, correct?
Maybe you should try another version of the hackmii-installer, as yours may be faulty.
Maybe Syscheck is a good idea, indeed. Allthough i doubt that it would load if hackmii doesn't work, either.
Try it tho, download syscheck and replace the hackmii boot.dol on your SD root with the one from syscheck, and should it manage to run through, post your results here.

It was ios 58 that I had changed. I wish I knew which thread I followed on here but it had all positive replies from other users.

I have re-downloaded hackmii several times. All coming from the bootmii site. its hackmii v 1.2. I will try to replace the boot.dol tonight or tomorrow, sadly my vacation is over and back to wrk I go.

Just to add a few extra notes...I am using return of jodi to run teh exploit. I also just found this thread of someone having teh same problem https://gbatemp.net/threads/want-is-wrong-with-my-vwii-on-my-wii-u-hackmii-freezee.361667/ He was able to run HBC from SD card. I have not tried or thought that was possible on wii U. He ended up sending his back in for replacement and got it taken care of that way. I may end up trying the same thing.

I also just tried to run the syscheck from exploit but as a .dol it was not found, and as a .elf it was not valid.

Well offcourse it's possible, it basically only is an elf that is installed with a loader into your homescreen, that could work to skip the hackmii installer... which reminds me, wherent there other homebrew-launchers out there that work on vWii?
They should also do the trick if not getting hackmii to work is a serious thing, THIS is one of them but i dont know if it works on vWii.
As a last resort you could also just put in the elf of a wadmanager, then install a wad of USBLoader-GX, that app definitely has a working brewloader and you could run it from your homemenu without needing HBC.
Maybe it is a hackmii-only problem

So as it turns out, it is something with just hackmii. I used your hbc launcher and it loaded right up!!! I ran a syscheck (posted below). I did try to search for the "proper" two IOS 58 and 236 (the only ones that say anything in syscheck) but if someone could please pm me or direct me to the best options. Thanks. Also if I am missing something, please let me know.

IOS236 is not a standard IOS, it's a custom one used for WAD installs and you probably installed it with IOS236 installer at some point, so don't worry about that. None of the IOSes above 200 are checked by the system anyway.
IOS58 always says "USB 2.0", this is because it's the only official IOS to have USB 2.0 support and sysCheck mistakenly detects it as having been patched, so that doesn't really mean anything.
However, what I find weird is that your IOSes don't say "vIOS" on them like they are supposed to, but it couldn't be possible that you have all your vWii IOS replaced with Wii IOS because that would irreparably brick your vWii. It just makes it harder to tell which IOSes are the problem, but since you say you messed with your IOS58 that is most likely the problem, so you will need a clean IOS58 WAD from somewhere (it can't be downloaded with NUS)
That would also explain why the HackMii installer won't work, since it will always try to use IOS58 first, and because of some different timing in vWii IOS compared to regular Wii IOS the vWii will freeze shortly after loading a Wii IOS.
