Hacking Update with a rom, without Gateway?

Hello,

I am currently stuck on a weird version of 4.5 that has no qr code reader and no themes that I could change. (it should have it by default I know :S)
In addition, Im currently running rxtools with sysnand and emunand.
Now I was wondering, is it possible to update emunand with a rom so that I could be on higher firmware on emunand? Id really like themes and such.
If I update via usual Nintendos way, I will get to 9.9 and rxtools wont work correct?

the emunand you can update online without problems, the sysnad is the one you should not

There's nothing weird about your version of 4.5, themes weren't added until 9.x and QR came well after 4.x too.

Oh I saw in some guide, cant remember where, that I should have QR at least :S

Having had the same problem, you can replace the safety app in sysnand with cia installer and get the update files for 4.5-10. this will give you QR camera.
