why we're not just ask nintendo if they know that the 5.4.0 and 5.5.0 exploit exists and if they patch it in a next update when they say yes than release it

Because they probably already do. I mean, one user here got sued for $1 million for leaking a game 6 years ago, so I'm sure Nintendo does keep an eye on this forum.

Welcome to the club. The only reason I'm on 5.4.0 was because I was told that it was safe to update, or else I'd still be on 5.3.2. Guess I should have been a bit more hesitant towards updating.
That pisses me off too. Obviously, 5.4 isn't safe as they're needlessly holding back the browser exploit. It would have been better if they didn't release the kernel exploit.

inb4 "they claim they didn't say it was safe".
I too fell victim to the initial "safe to update news" and figured what the hell, may as well get my last smash DLC before the hack releases. Nope lol. Oh well, It's not like it's gone forever, it will eventually happen. They are just waiting until the right time.
You guys are being silly. 5.4.0 is safe, which means that it is exploitable. For some reason you guys assume that the exploits for 5.3.2 and 5.4.0 would be released at the same time, but this timing wasn't the question any of you asked.

Feel free to explain how I'm being "silly". I'm aware that 5.4.0 is safe, hence why I'm staying there and am not updating. 5.4.0 has been out for roughly two months, and many reputable sources were saying that it was safe to update, most likely because they had code execution on it already, which implies that work, to some degree, had been done on it. It wasn't made clear until recently, though, exactly how much work had actually been done on 5.4.0. Therefore, one can, at that time, safely conclude that 5.4.0 support was possible to release since confirmation only came mere hours/days after the firmware release showing that only a small amount of work had to be done to port it to the new firmware, however, it's only because of a missing piece of key information (That is, that it isn't in a usable form yet because their focus has been on other things) that the conclusion could have been drawn. As is apparent, I'm not the only person to have made this assumption.

While we [Users that are on 5.4.0] may be out of luck for now, we can probably be patient for a bit longer while it gets fixed up. I, for one, wouldn't want to use buggy software in case I corrupt something and render my Wii U unusable or something blows up in my face. I also respect their decision to not release it yet. It was just a matter of bad judgement on my part that put me in this situation, and I'm willing to wait a short while, like @VinsCool mentioned, until it gets fixed up for public use.

I would damn well release it if I had it. But I don't.

i opened a wiiu, mk8 and nsmbu hacking forum
Your link seems to be timing out. If you want, and the rest of the staff agree with me, I can open a subforum on the site I administer and you can use our site as a reliable host. (It's a Pokemon hacking site but it might be getting revamped later on so don't worry too much about it)

Very well documented, it will be really helpful :)

Right now i'm doing some improvements on cafiine to be able to dump game files directly from the application.
It's working, I can dump a lot of files but still often crash, as soon as it get better i'll release it.

Just to be clear I wasn't really complaining (though I am VERY impatiently waiting to be able to use caffeiine and other mods).
Just at the time it seemed it would be a joint release. Though as others have stated I am MORE than happy to wait for the mods to start being created, and for the exploit to become more stable. No one wants to risk any unnecessary complications.

From the little bit that chadderz has inferred to me, BFRES editing is possible, but not creation. Like BRRES, it has a weird binary search tree thing that helps the system/engine search for sections inside the files, and the algorithm it uses changed so all we can do is generate individual sections and splice them in, can't add or delete sections until it's figured out. From the sound of it, individual section size doesn't matter so it should work fine.
I just tried to update Super Smash Bros. from 1.0.7 to 1.1.0 and yes, the RPX is still the same (but file replacement in other folders works fine) and the game goes weird ( http://i.imgur.com/NCxGnfJ.jpg XD ), do you have any idea on how to replace files in the "code" folder ?
Really the only thing you can do is edit it in memory before the game gets to it, which should be possible with the Cafiine rewrite since it can patch memory on boot before jumping to main and any code is run. It's also possible normally with TCPGecko but it can get super messy.

How to update Super Smash Bros. for Wii U without updating your system firmware?
I'm on 5.3.2 and the version I have on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is 1.0.2.

Thanks in advance.

Yep. The Kernel Exploit has been released for 5.3.2, so you shouldn't update.
I hope there is a way to play the latest games without updating.

I think Super Mario Maker will have either 5.4.0 or 5.5.0 on it :/

I wonder if it's possible to import tracks from MK7
Yes but it will take a lot of work. But can be done. I just wait when there is a program that let you make it easier to do it
