Hello,

So I have a blue button Sky3ds and I'm using it on a New 3DS XL on the latest firmware. I noticed that none of the roms that show eeprom=yes in diskwriter won't work on my system. It says that the game card has been removed. I have tried it with A Link Between Worlds, Yoshi's New Island, and Kirby Triple Deluxe, all giving me the same error.

When I try Pokémon X, which has an eeprom=no, it plays just fine.

Any ideas on what my issue is?

Thanks

Damn, sometimes I'm ashamed of being French. Fucking retard.

Well, I don't own a Sky3DS and I don't remember reading something about that kind of problem.
That's why I think you may have a faulty card.

I think that there is a workaround: Card1 games are Eeprom and Card2 games are Nand.

If you use this tool: http://www.jheberg.net/captcha/card-1-to-2/
To convert your games, every games will become Nand type and I think that you wan't have troubles with those anymore.

Otherwise, I'm not sure about that solution, it may change to much things in the file and maybe it wouldn't work using Sky3DS. (I know that the tool was used by some GW users)
I would give a try, it doesn't cost that much.

Anyways , there are 2 options or your SD is not working right on Sky3DS* or as Ekaitz said this is a type problem , convert the game , back when i used Sky3DS i had problems with NAND games also , but it never prevented it from booting , only a few saving problems , good luck on this one because Sky3DS as i said has HUGE problems , this is due to the way that Sky3DS loads games , to make it simple : Sky3DS does not load the roms per say but rather emulates games tricking the 3ds that it's an actual cartridge thus making some types less compatible than others

*It doesn't seem to be your SD since you can boot Pokemon X appearently
*Watch out because some games in japan have found a way to prevent Sky3DS from loading them.

Good Luck.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
