Hacking Firmware 5.5.0 Out Now!

Wait, so people were only finding out today that there was a new update? I was wondering why no one was talking about it. My WiiU has been trying to download it since the 11th.
I'm really glad I decided to block the eshop 2 days before the update went live.
Nope, 11th was the day TVii service finished, the notification said "soon after (11th) a system update will remove the TVii icon from Wii U menu"

Read what I said again. My WiiU started trying to download the system update on the 11th. It happened right around 2pm. I had my friend over that day and the message saying the system update failed appeared when I returned to the system menu after showing him an indie game. I am positive it was the 11th since it was my only day off work that week.

PAL system?

I think the error you got was something blocking Nintendo servers (open DNS?). I've tried to manually update the console since 11th, and always got "there's no update available".
Whenever I would go to the system menu it would say "Some data failed to install". When I checked the download management, it showed a system update that failed to download. I blocked the eshop servers only a couple days before that and the error never happened before the 11th.

Edit: I decided to turn my WiiU on for the first time in a couple days to check and found that the system update disappeared from the download management. Strange.

I was spooked the other day by an update message I got when I bought a new copy of Mario Kart 8, so I totally deleted all my wi-fi settings, and now! just in time for the 5.5.0. *feeling safe*

Although, with Super Mario Maker only 2 weeks away now, and 5.5.0 just released, I'm reaaaaally hoping the update doesn't come bundled with it... although, why wouldn't it, this is Nintendo... dammit, and I'm really excited to play that too! :ohnoes:

So, "feature"-wise, it does the same like 5.4.0 E did in Europe? My console got the TV icon removed in the last update (which I dumbly installed, and I'm now sticking with).
That makes the 5.5.0 update even more useless to me.
We already got the 'feature' (removal of TVii icon on 5.4.0) before so nothing new per say.

emuNAND is still pretty far away. I had barely any time to work more on IOSU before this update happened.

But a way to install game updates without need update firmware still far too?
This i think that dont need IOSU that NW123Player said that somebody already working but the progress?

Matt was working on it, but I'm not sure what progress he's made, or if it will be possible to complete.

Thanks Margen67 :P

Oh my God, I turned off Standby mode just a few days back. Gonna try to keep it that way... Even though I set blocked IP's so let's go ahead and see if that actually worked in the first place. :P Hopefully I don't accidentally update while testing this.

EDIT: It started downloading! :( I instantly went to my settings to remove my connection then shut off my WiiU, so I'm going to try the OpenDNS method. I wonder why putting the IP's of the URL's in my firewall didn't work. I had to use a URL to IP converter site because the text boxes are limited.

EDIT2: Okay, OpenDNS isn't working either. Here's what I got going on for my settings.

WiiU connected to my WiFi and went to change settings.
IP: (The one that shows up on OpenDNS updater)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (Router)
DNS Primary: 208.067.222.222
DNS Secondary: 208.067.220.220

When I go to test, it fails... Connects to my router though.

Forgot to mention, automatic IP will keep downloading the update.
