Now I wonder how he managed to accomplish that. The game doesn't have any type of QR code reading, right? Maybe we export the save from the 3DS menu, patch it in some way and then import it back to the game?

I'm also extremely interested in how this will work! I'm excited I no longer need to flip between cartridges to do region free!

This most recent piece of news makes me tempted to update my 4.5 console to download the game... as I never found the time to work with the previous solutions.

You have to wonder if the 'entry point' he found will be transferable to any save game hack, and not just ironfall. This could have implications for exploit launching on different firmwares. (and n3ds especially)

I think Nintendo will pull the game tomorrow for sure after this news.

there are literally no exploit tools yet why would nintendo pull the game out? Even though smealum is a known hacker for the system, they can't just pull the game out. That only proves that smealum has control over the whole company. I THINK, lol i have 11 posts what the hell do i know.

They usually don't wait for the exploit files. They didn't with sudokuhax or the JPN eshop Cubic Ninja.
That said, why are they holding out this time? I would love to know.

Maybe it has something to do with the game checking for DLC files on the SD Card.

Probably because this is a much bigger and more popular game that they have publicised and used for official promotion. Could potentially piss some people off.

I have a question, if that's at all okay here.

I understand Ironhax, much like Ninjhax 2.0, will only give us homebrew access, and I'm okay with it, but doesn't the lack of emunand also mean that we will eventually be forced to choose between updating the console to play newer games and most likely forgo the ability to play legitimately bought cartridges with higher firmware requirements?

Maybe. Probably really.
But there's no risk in downloading ironfall and giving ironhax a chance to surprise you.

This reminds me of what is likely to happen once ironfall does get pulled or a firmware update kills ninjhax: The whining of, "I didn't get the totally free game because X dumb reason" .
It hasn't even happened yet but it already makes me angry. :P

Alright, so, heads up here. Ironfall Invasion requires 9.5+FW to boot. If you boot into Gateway SysNAND, you can boot the game thanks to firmlaunchhax. rxMode SysNAND doesn't seem to work for it, for some reason. Regular SysNAND will result in a gameboot freeze. Update doesn't matter, same result whether or not you have the update installed.

The first thing the game asks you is a name for your save.

You don't need QR, you just need a point where user input is required
