Been out the loop for a while and decided to look into using my 8.1 JP N3DS, yet earlier reports shown and from GW's release notes that this function had a bug in their firmware release:-

Another pending issue we are working on fixing is the broken "head tracking" functionality
in Gateway mode on New 3DS. However, some clever community members discovered an easy
temporary workaround until we develop a proper fix for this issue: Simply close your New 3DS
lid while in Gateway mode to put the console in sleep mode, re-open the lid and head tracking
should be working again as expected.

Is this now addressed or is the temp fix still needed?

Thanks

No but the temp fix is just a quick open and close of the lid

It has nothing to do with gateway exactly. Launching any CFW requires you to close the lid to fix 3D on it.

maybe he robbed a store display unit and can't close the lid as its still in the metal frame :tpi:.......PS you can also use a magnet just under the B button to simulate closing the lid
You can even buy a SECOND N3DS, flip that one open, and bring its top side near the bottom side of the first N3DS to simulate closing the lid. I mean, sure. Why the fuck not.

I can explain why this is: All CFW are based on Gateway's exploit. Basically this is a form of digital plagiarism.

The offsets for removing the signature checks were posted anonymously on pastebin a few months back. Then someone else implemented it into Pasta CFW.

Gateway's exploit required Zelda OOT.
