Doesn't really work. The only options are 4.x and 9.2, I upgraded to 9.2 and it still just says YS:/rxTools.dat

I assume I have to install the older system settings regardless which one I use? Ideally I'd keep it on 6 or 7.x so there's no theme stuff on sysNAND to worry about, but still has the new save encryption.
It works up to 6.x without having to downgrade System Settings. On 7.x+, you have to downgrade it.

Install the 6.x system settings on 9.2, then install the ROP loader, or alternatively, if youre already on 6.x, install 9.2 through sysupdater, but delete the system settings cia so it doesnt update, but i guess the latter would only be applicable if you wanted to have 9.2 instead of 6.x

But what if I want to stay on 6.x or 7.x?

Having 9.2 on there is annoying because then it has the themes and I have to bother unlinking NANDs and whatnot.

OK yeah, it doesn't work on 6.1 (my bad, you can't update to 6.2 with a cart, only 6.1)

I did a Gateway downgrade to 4.2, then used my retail copy of Pokémon Y to upgrade it back to 6.1.

Tried both the 4.x and 9.x MSET exploits and neither worked.
So if I have to downgrade the system settings app *anyway*, I mayaswell just keep my sysNAND on what it had from the factory (7.2), since the Gateway downgrade process is rather sketchy.

So... the million-dollar question: how do I go about downgrading the system settings app? I tried the "Install NVRAM" option from Gateway's launcher but that didn't do anything.

Ugh. This isn't working. I have 7.2, downgraded system settings, installed the 4.x MSET, still doesn't work. Tried upgradng to 9.2, then running the RX downgrader again, installed *both* 4.x and 9.x, still errors every single time.

Stupid thing just does not work ever. Does anyone have proof of the 666KB (LOL) installer actually working on anything above 4.x?
If youre on 9.2, you need to downgrade your MSET to the 6.x one, not the 4.x one, then use the code.bin, should work fine. 4.x MSET doesnt work on 7.x-9.x, you need to use the 6.x one.

OK, what?

I thought I tried on 6.1 as well and it didn't work.

So give me more detailed instructions. I have rxTools 2.5.1 (not using 2.6 because that stupid "writing files to the SD" never works for me), which has a 310KB rxinstaller.nds. There's also rxTools_2015-07-12 which has a 666KB one.

Do I need anything else? What I did was use the Python script to download the MSET downgrade for USA region, put it on the SD root, launch my rxTools, etc etc etc

No matter what I try it won't work so obviously I'm doing something wrong

You need rxtools 3 beta.
I didnt use the in built rxtools downgrader, i used this code.bin, that was built for rxtools.

Grab that code.bin, put it in the root of your SD card.

You're on 9.2 right?

downgrade your MSET using one of these

6.X MSET :
USA = 0004001000021000, v5128
EUR = 0004001000022000, v5127
JPN = 0004001000020000, v5127

Then run the ROP installer. Bottom screen should flash, that means MSET installed successfully.
Then get rxtools 3beta, and it should launch

Can I use this on 7.2? My native system is 7.2, I only upgraded thinking that would make some difference.

I can try that, anyway. Will get back to you with results...

They do, it's just that the rxinstaller still works only on 4.X on 9.X,you need to use the CakeRop with a ropCustom.txt or the new code.bin.

Well, I just restored my 7.2 sysNAND since I had screwed it up a lot with MSET stuff. Are you saying I should upgrade it back to 9.2? The reason I don't like doing that is that it then becomes 9.2.0-17U, due to updating with a cart, and most of the browser exploits crash on that. go.gateway-3ds.com refuses to load on that version, it's looking for -20U.

But do I *need* 9.x for this stuff to work?

No. It works exactly the same on 7.2 as it does on 9.2. How are you not making it work? Its a three step process.

1.Downgrade MSET to 6.x
2.Put code.bin on root of SD card
3.Go to website to launch exploit

Done
