I tried this a long while ago and gave up. But now i really want this to work.

So after investing many hours in MM, I have a 100% completion save. When I got my gateway, I dumped the rom from the cartridge and gave it to my kid as she had been bugging me for the game for some time. I played the game on 9.2 sysNand then dumped both the rom and save, created an emuNand, which is now updated to 9.8. I created a save with gw and replaced it with the dumped save. But the games says the save is corrupted and wants to format. So what do I need to do to get it to work?

The gateway mode always use the old encryption, regardless your sysnand version, that's why the save is not working. You need to decrypt it first with rxTools+savedatafiler.

Ok I see. I was certain 9.2 and 9.8 used the same encryption, so I was like 'wtf?'. Is that all, just decrypt it? And try it with no encryption?

- Extract your cartdridge save with rxTools and savedatafiler
- Boot into gateway mode
- Mount the game (but don't start it)
- Open sdf and go to the sd tab
- Highlight your save then press L+A.
- Turn off your console.
- On your sd card, copy the 000400000FF40A00.sav file, paste it in the same folder and rename "000400000FF40A00 - Copy.sav" with the game title ID (should be 0004000000125500.sav if you have the US version).
- Boot into gateway mode and start your game and the save should be here.

That seems simple enough. Thanks man. :yaysp:

ok, so i got it working once i followed your instructions correctly. i need some understanding as to whats going on here though.

so '0004000000125500' is the majora's mask save. but whats '000400000FF40A00'?
Is this a temporary save slot for whatever software is loaded into gateway, before it gets flushed to sd by quitting the software? thats the best i can come up with.
In other words, will any save injected into a gateway rom go to 000400000FF40A00?
