Man, there are a lot of CFW around now, it's starting to get confusing. Why can't everyone just collaborate to make the best CFW ever, rather than everyone making their own version of CFW? It would be better in the end and a lot less confusing :P
What's interesting is that none of them are actually custom firmwares. They're the official firmware with OTF patches.

Because some people code like drunkards, other don't have certain entry points and no way of making their currently oversized payload fit in spider, others are in it just for the learning experience and so on and so forth. This is what an open source community will inevitably end up looking like.

However, someone makes an advancement, other people may integrate it. Making small steps, everyone gets ahead. You can't deny the scene's been moving infinitely much faster since the first open source releases.

Ahh, someone agree with me !
last time I said that (and it was only me saying "NAND redirection is NOT a cfw"), users were fast to counter argument.

It's nice seeing fellow dev understanding it ;)

Given the recent practices of signing everything that could be a target, I believe we need to redefine the term CFW to cover on-the-fly patching, too.

Poppycock.
When a firmware is loaded into RAM, it ceases to be firmware. It's OTF-ware!

When this eventually is released for N3DS, will it be possible to perform a System Transfer from an O3DS at latest FW to the EmuNAND?

yeah i had my head bit off for suggesting current CFW's aren't *true* CFW's...i can see the argument for both sides technically they are as they reboot into a patched version rather than just plain OTF ram patches....but then you could argue that they are patched firmwares not custom made firmwares i.e a homebrew FW built from the ground up that replaces the retail FW.......meh the whole thing is a spaghetti junction of "well ACTUALLY it uses XXX so it IS"...."OH YEAH WELL YYY MEANS IT ISNT"

leave them to it, i guess CFW is as good as any other term and helps people get the general idea

yes, the end result for the end user is the same.
it's only a technical detail.
everyone is free to name his project as it pleased. (not sure it's a proper grammar!)

Ugh all these "CFW" keep popping up -__- someone needs to needs to make a proper firmware for the New 3DS. Right now it's a three way race between Pasta CFW / rxTools / ReiNand.
Only two of those are on n3ds, m8.
I'm just waiting for gateway to reverse engineer Rei's emunand and release an update.

As far as i know it is Gateways emunand, reinand is using. It would be stupid to reverse engineer something you made
At least, i have my gateway created emunand and use it with rxtools 2.5.2 and just tested it with reinand and then back to rxtools, no problem at all
(correct me if i'm wrong)

Oh. My. Gawd! Screenshots! SCREENSHOTS! It would be so awesome, if/when the source code is released - maybe then it could be implemented in rxTools?

@Roxas75
-Screenshots

We can take screen shot ?

Hmmz, any howto? on this screenshot option?
would indeed be awesome if so :)

I found it confusing as well when people kept mentioning CFW but thats not what I was seeing.

The best OTF would be:

- Working with old/new3DS
- Sign patch
- Firm (for above 9.X)
- Screenshots for both displays
- Memory Debugger similar to NTR's
- GBA
- XORPAD generation NAND/GAME

EDIT:

- Region free
- eShop
- emuNAND
- Savegame conversion/dump/insert

Did i forget anything?
