Hacking Best new o3ds xl solution

Hello, i am new to the scene and would appreciate some help in understanding the solutions available in my situation. I have been through the forum and think i have a grasp somewhat but would appreciate some feedback so i don't misinterpret things and mess up.

I personally think this is a good deal? Although i will have to pick up and quickly test due to the possible water damage remark.

From what i understand the highest firmware this could have is 8.1 being new?

The best option for that would be downgrade to 4.5 (if above that) through the gateway system (cart-less), set up emunand through the gateway system (cart-less) and install rx' through the ds profile exploit?

I could buy a game with 9.2 and go through the web exploit and apart from the disadvantage of extra money involved and having to re-initiate the exploit every time, what are some of the the advantages other than saves compatibility to off set these somewhat negatives?

From what i understand 4.5 exploit stays unless using ds games where as the web exploit needs to be initiated every power on?

I am also a little lacking in the understanding of linked or un-linked emunand.

Anyway am i on the right track? Or does any one have any other ideas that would better my experience?

I really do appreciate any help or guidance anyone could offer. Please no bashing the noob, i'm really trying hard to grasp this even though i may be way off and very uneducated on this stuff.

Well i jumped the gun and bought it. There was 3 last night and only one left today so i impulse bought lol.

I assume now the ebay link above won't work so the run down of the add was $160 aud for a new o3ds xl, in the box, unopened from a salvage warehouse nearby.

Currently o3ds are out of production so any new in box never opened one will have an exploitable firmware

Do you personally recommend or prefer 4.5 or 9.2 for a rx install. Can you give me a quick run down of why that is your preference?

I would downgrade to 4.x personally, you gain nothing with the higher firmware and they just require you to have an internet connection or some way to run a web server to run the exploit. With 4.x you can use the ds profile mset exploit to run emunand.

Also I personally prefer Cake for my o3ds mainly because of the boot options between system and emunand giving me DSi / GBA support

So, if this Console is truly new, the highest fw you could expect is 8.1. They never made any o3ds consoles with higher fw than that.

Personally, I am not well versed in the different cfws out there anymore, but you could look into pasta cfw/cake cfw(?) and downgrade and install the ds profile exploit.

When you first make an emunand, it will be linked to your sysnand. As a result, any cia games you install will display on your sysnand home screen despite being unplayable unless you are in emunand. Also you are at risk of the unwrap bug where you will have to unwrap any games installed that you have every time you go into emunand.

Basically, unlinking is the best option for emunand. You can do this by formatting sysnand or emunand. That will fix all those bugs that you may be experiencing.

And yes, the 4.5 exploit will stay unless you play DS games in regular mode iirc.
