Proper translation, this is easy for me, thanks to my own bilingual level of french/english:

I patched the French (FR) version with a FR translation patch over the JPN rom (J), but the patch also removed the copy protection of the game, so no more crashing or freezing.

This, I believe, means this patch contains a workaround about the protection of the game.

BUT THE PATCH WORKS!
