Hey I did the custom firmware on my 3ds xl quite awhile ago, and I wanna revert it back to normal. If I update the system via like a game or the Nintendo Eshop, will it return to normal? or will it brick it?

Sorry I haven't been following the scene in a long time.

Help greatly appreciated!

If you update sysnand then all mods will be removed and can't be activated anymore. No risk of brick.

Not sure why you would want to update. The modded rxtools has emunand support for lastest firmware and allows you to install cia files.

The reason is I actually have two 3ds xl's and want to sell one and get a New nintendo 3ds xl. But I didn't want to sell it too someone and have it get bricked or anything lol.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The problem I'm having though, is when I get the new 3ds XL, my other 3ds XL I want to put CFW on or get a gateway or something so I can have one for back ups and the new one totally stock for online and eshop stuff.

But, I'm not sure how I can unlink my nintendo ID from the old one and put it on the new one without updating it. >.<

It would be worth more if you just did a system format and left it at an exploitable firmware. Seriously why would anyone buy an o3ds when they can get a n3ds unless it's exploitable?

Thanks Weedz I'll probably do that. I'm selling to for 150$ do you think that's too much or too little? I'm not sure what the going rate is since the n3ds is out.

I have been offered 130$

This 3ds xl is in perfect condition. I actually only used it twice to trade pokemon XD
put cfw on it for fun but didn't really end up using it as I did the same thing on my main 3ds after.

I would take 130. Refurbs are going for 140 roughly.

Someone correct me if Im wrong, but doesnt formatting it allow you to unlink your NNID? Formatting doesnt require an update.
Also, if that doesnt work, use the Pasta CFW Spoofer to spoof your firmware to unlink the NNID

Formatting it doesn't unlink the NNID. It will remove it, but it can only be re-added to the same console unless system transferred to a new console.

The way I circumvented this was to email Nintendo, lie and tell them I sold the old console with my NNID attached, and ask for them to transfer it to the new one. They asked for a receipt for the new console, which I photoshopped in a couple of minutes, and my new console's serial number. A day after submitting that info, they emailed me to tell me everything was done and good to go.

Calling them works too. And the hold music is classic Nintendo game songs, played back at horrible phone quality!
