Maybe we should just stop giving updates, since everyone will treat them as promises, and get mad whenever they hear anything potentially contrary to what they thought. Just to be clear, he was talking about polishing the kernel exploit, while we looked for WebKit bugs. Once again, if you just throw around the word "exploit", it's completely unclear.

For clarity's sake let's make sure we keep all 3 exploits separate: Userland Exploit (Webkit), Kernel Exploit (CafeOS) and the Starbuck (ARM) exploit (IOSU. From the above it appears a Webkit vulnerability (the one listed is said to apply to Apple Safari < 6.0) with specific conditions is needed to get the IOSU exploit to work. Perhaps the kernel exploit can be made to work with a different Webkit exploit that NWPlayer123 is working on?

Edit: more or less timwarp ninja'd by MN1, I didn't click post until just now.

That is essentially correct. The kernel exploit has been working (although imperfectly) since March; to use it on 5.3.2, we need a new WebKit exploit targeted towards 5.3.2; there is also an IOSU vulnerability in 3.0.1 which requires getting our old WebKit bug backported to 3.0.1. All of these are separate, fairly independent projects (aside from the people who are working on them).

You need to reload the menu, which means loading up a game and going back the system menu, so no, you can't do it directly after you run a kernel exploit/Cafiine(unless you find it in memory or something). Also, it doesn't affect icons like the browser and such, only ones with tiles.
Could you attempt to reload the menu just after the browser crashes back to it like what the 3DS scene is doing for emunand?

You guys just need to go dark for awhile. Gateway deserved the crap they received, you guys don't. Don't let a few numbskulls get to you, learn to brush them off.

Oh come on, are you really that desperate? :P
well lets be really realistic here. the wii u has taken a "considerable" amount of time to get to the stage its at (no i am not critisizing anybody's work or speed here).
which with all the bits of the puzzle missing and with work being done (IOSU on 3.0.1) and the current webkit ("only" webkit on 4.+)
the only thought that comes to my mind is to sell this and buy another one brand new so its not on 5.3.2!!! is that such a bad idea? i dont see anything coming anytime soon at all tbh really. again im not critisizing anybody or how fast/slow things are. i just dont want a wii u sitting collecting dust to find out nothing is gonna be done with it. while everybody else is having fun with homebrew on the lower firmware's

You don't need iosU exploit to get homebrews lol.

it would be more of a home entertainment system then what it is know once more homebrew is made for it (homebrew game's and game mods/possible a Blueray dvd player/emulators). personally i would like to learn some programming and maybe it could be a good way to learn with this (probable not in some respects though). i dont care too much about wii u game's because there arnt many worth buyin or even downloading if the time came available. i have been checking and there is probable about 8 games in total that catch my eye 3 of which i have already played.

also i get the feeling everybody reading is under the impression im critisizing people here which isnt the case at all

No it isn't. Proof:
Hykem said:
We've been focusing on exploiting firmware 5.3.2, but the bug we have been looking into has proven to be quite tricky to exploit.

Which means there's no exploit, contrary to popular belief. I feel bad for all the people who actively listened to NWPlayer's "it's OK to update to the latest firmware!" yammering.
