don't own one yet, as I have ordered it, and its on its way, but basically have a question I just found out about the 3 cart manufacturers...

C2 = Macronix
AE = OKI Semiconductor
45 = SanDisk.

there's alot of debate, people say, you can't use a private header, unless the header comes from the same manufacturer.. and will only work on the same manufacturer.. roms... so for example, pokemon Y C2, smash.. AE, you can't use C2 HEADER on an AE game gives an error, then others are saying you can change the manufacturer.. .. and it works online, can someone please confirm this, and if its safe???

Just switch the manufacturer in the template and it'll run, it's the game info, not the header you're changing, and besides, if the manufacturer isnt right it wont run at all, use the correct one. Same goes for size, the mystery byte and cart type (all pokemon are cart2 type games)

mystery bite is either 00 or 02 ( i noticed that it's 02 on cart2 type of games that already have a save in them, but that might not be true)
Manufacturer
45 = SanDisk
AE = OKI Semiconductor
C2 = Macronix -> 90% of the games are C2

Size = size of the rom, easily distinguished
7F = 128mb
FF = 256mb
FE = 512mb
FA = 1gb
F8 = 2gb
F0 = 4gb

Unknown
00 =
02 =

Card Type
90 = card1
98 = card2 (pokemon.... )

He's probably either changing the whole template at once (which will make it completely wrong) he shouldn't use any program to modify the template, he needs to do it MANUALLY for the game that isn't working, in the actual template file, if he screwed around with it, make him use no ban no sky only to insert the PRIVATE HEADER, nothing else should be modified with it, and he needs to use a blank rom, you can open the rom with a Gateway Rom Patcher to see if it has no header/chip info, it'll also recommend the chip id info for the game, just write that down, open the template with notepad (or notepad ++ in hex mode) and switch ALL the versions of that game's name in the template with the Chip id info you pulled out from GRP (example, there are 3-4 parts named CTR-P-EKJA (pokemon X) on the template, which means you need to edit the chip info on all of them (header will be auto inserted if you used NBNS, but it doesnt correct the Chip id...)
If you played with the template with some tool, just download a fresh one and start over...

so i got my sky3ds, so trying it out my self

in sky army knife, there's EEPROM ID

and cart ID...

i DOWNLOADED the template from sky3ds, then opened it in sky army knife, when I opened the pokemon Omega ruby, I got a something in base template, this is the most important part

C2 F8 02 98

Macronix game, 2 gb, and cart type 2, so I assume, I put the cart ID as this,

but what do you do with the eeprom id?

you only need to edit the chip id, as I said previously

As i said multiple times before, use NOTEPAD or NOTEPAD++ with hex mode on to edit the template, instead of using any kind of tool at all

no idea, but that doesn't sound easier, new at using sky3ds, also whole template thing, I have basic know how, and understanding, you just saying, use note pad ++.. hex editor, got that, but still doesn't help me, I am visual learner, so whatever you say just goes voof over my head,

open, CTRL + F -> find the game though the title id (google _______ title id) to find out which one it is, then just edit the Chip ID like i've said above, only the 4 bytes there, for pokemon X it's usually C2 F8 00 98, which you can see here:

These are mine and working for me, basicly the only things i've changed for ALL ENTRIES of the game in the template was the Chip ID, and it worked fine. YOU ONLY NEED TO EDIT THE PARTS I'VE PUT IN BOLD!

The official sky3ds template, not a new one, it wont work out. and to find out, open it in Gateway Rom Patcher (as i said above...) and check the Chip ID there (dont apply it in the rom patcher) and put it in the template. You should've used No Ban No Sky to apply your private header to the whole template.
