Hacking Retail Save backup with a rom

Hi all,

I recently bought a gateway, which meant I had to overide my save game for Ocarina of time. Was wondering if there was a way I could use my .sav file that i backed up off the cartridge with the rom of the same region?

If you get cubic ninja then you can load pasta and use SDF to dump your OoT save (restore it back with GW menu), IDK if it works with a rom.
