Does anyone with an Old 3DS want to test the spider version?

I'm certainly up for that test. I got CIAs installed to sysnand already and have an o3DS on 9.2 firmware. ;)

I also have a HTTP server to put it on. ;)
What is the difference between GBA VC support on this as compared to Gateway?

With Gateway, GBA VC titles, DSiWare, and DS games will not boot because the patches they added prevent proper reboot into AGB_FIRM/TWL_FIRM. (also note that if emunand is eventually added, don't expect AGB_FIRM/TWL_FIRM to launch correctly. You still have to boot into sysnand to get it to work.)

Gotcha. So technically speaking, this offers more comparability than an emuNAND. The only thing that is a downside is not being able to update and get features like Amiibo support.

Hi, I have made a CFW loader for both N3DS and O3DS, it requires Cubic Ninja and allows you to install and run unsigned CIAs (The loader is still in early devlopement, but it should work !).

As for the name, it is because it all started from a Unknown Pastebin.

The loader is nothing fancy, and i don't like to make tidy posts, so here is a zip that both contains brahma (required to launch the loader) and the loader itself.

It works on N3DS 9.0-9.2 and O3DS 4.1-4.5 / 8.0-8.1 / 9.0-9.2.

Also, unsigned DSIware works as well as GBA Virtual Console !

WARNING, THIS CFW WILL BOOT TO SYSNAND !!! I will decline all responsability of any consequences of your usage of this CFW (even if your handheld comes to explode).

Edit: it is strongly recomended to close and open the lid of your console to have proper 3D support, and you are able to run Out of region cartridge games (with unsigned dlc ?) with this CFW, by launching either smealum's region three on O3DS or NTR on N3DS.

Edit2 : If you get an error when installing a CIA with FBI, remember to make a title.db file in your "Nintendo 3DS/id1/id2/dbs" folder, and go to software management to fix the issue, you will then be able to install CIAs with FBI.

Video Instructions to start CFW:

N3DS :

O3DS :

Text Instructions :

- Download the archive provided below, unzip it's contents to the root of the SD card of your N/O3DS.

- Startup your 3DS , boot Cubic Ninja, start Brahma, load and execute the payload ("arm9payload.bin").

- You should land on a screen like the one below.
SjTIRO9.jpg

- Select your firmware, and press start to launch the CFW (or B to reboot without launching a custom firmware).

- Done ! you can now enjoy your signature patches :D and piracy galore ^^''.

Credits :
- Me (Capito27) for the loader menu.
- Patois for brahma and sample code , without him, i couldn't make this CFW loader.
- Unknown for all the O3DS offsets and the signature patch method.
- motezazer for the N3DS offsets and testing.
- kactusss for testing the app and providing the videos.
- Psi-hate for bringing up the unknown pastebin to the gbatemp community.

For those who want to have a look at my messy source code and laugh at my really poor coding skills, feel free, it is also present in the attached files.

Thank you so much for making it open source! I'll study it!

Thanks again

What is the alternative? How else would you play GBA games?

We need a way to run any and all GBA games using the backward compatibility mode built into the (N)3DS, preferably bypassing sysNAND (edit: as in patching, installing non-legit) alltogether. So how we'd have to look at how the ambassador games work. How does it call AGB_FIRM and what parameters does it pass/set up? Does it have patched ROMs (saves?) I'm thinking like POPS loader on the PSP, where you're not limited to the PS1 games that Sony decided you are allowed to play.

From what I've heard GBA_VC titles contain the GBA rom in the code.bin file with the addition of a footer at the end. I can't say for certain how it will work until I have a way of booting Pasta CFW. Otherwise I have no way of testing custom GBA VC CIAs. :P

Heres a thing i made 5ever ago for my CFW that lets you make custom theme packs
https://www.dropbox.com/s/h8jvp5kv6al7q0p/CustomThemeTools.rar?dl=0

tl;dr:
themes are stored in data folder, edit text files for description, edit the icons, and lastly, to compile more than 4 themes, edit the batch and add another cfa to the make rom line.
(i.e -content New4.cfa:4:4 -content New5.cfa:5:5 [...] etc)
I think the max is 40 themes for this one
Enjoy~

GBA_VC titles use AGB_FIRM and hardware emulation (actually it's not really an emulation).

That reminds me. Custom Theme CIAs will work with Pasta CFW? I would assume so since it does the patches in a better way compared to Gateway.
