15.5 install the v0 whitelist, or flashcardtimewarp.cia so you can use the bluecard to reinstall the profile exploit should it ever go missing whatever reason, then you will no longer need CN/oot under any circumstance (unless you do something silly like re-update MSET)

13.5 Install NVRAM from Gateway Menu

After step 9 that you backup yor emunand to you pc, format sysnand with the micro sd removed from the n3ds. An then boot you sysnand again with your microsd in the n3ds. This will create a new folder in your microsd and unlink your sysnand from emunand

Gotta love this community sometimes

People, who are not clever enough to figure that out by themselves, should not try to do any hacking.

If that´s so then gateway would lose 99% of its clients.

I agree, someone should let known others that you should follow steps ONLY after being on sysnand. (It was very shortsighted from gateway to not clarify this within their instructions)

Another thing, i STRONGLY suggest that you install the mset cia through the FBI installer; devmenu nor bigbluemenu worked for me, FBI worked for me without any hazzle at all.

Oh i see. The part that confuses me is the using gw mode in sysnand..what does that mean exactly? When I go into gateway it sends me into emunand
Edited my previous reply for more info and clarification. That's been said that is still not complete. You also need to do NVRAM install from GW menu. As for your question, once you are in GW menu when you launch GW mode it first looks for emuNAND. If it's not there then it would obviously take you to GW mode in sysNAND (which is what we trying to do, in order to run DevMenu.3ds from there and downgrade System Settibgs title in sysNAND).

A voice of reason. Thank you kind sir.

So this all means one thing... Gateway the ones making GW after all.

But what if they made the DS profile for n3ds to throw off the scent...
;)

Someone in earlier posts on this topic mentioned that exact DevMenu.3ds version to be use for installing, with a picture of proof of successful install. And while FBI works, it's a bit risky as that involves first 'deleting' and then 'installing', and some reported here on earlier posts that it fails to install and that's when you would think you made a mistake...

I think you may not attempt to use gateway if you can't tell what is this...

You see, most flashcard users lack knowledge about the technical details behind the hacking procedure through which gateway relies on; they just want a simple solution through which they can run roms so, most of them just follow instructions blindly without even questioning whats going on behind. You on the other hand seems a little bit more knowledgeable on these matters (i can bet you use or had used ninjhax or another cfw on your 3ds) so you shouldn´t be surprised if someone from around the corner comes asking questions like idx13.

What is mset?

It's the ds profile exploit installer.

How do you find out information if you don't seek out the information? You make no sense. Try not to rely on your elitism over gameboy hacking to get you through life.

Simple solution is available and still the simplest of all and works, it's Sky3DS. GW since the beginning has never been easy to use but that's the beauty of it... it allows for more than just being a flashcart... and that's a good thing IMO.

I can verify that GW's Nand restore (Downgrade console + up + a) works perfectly fine on the N3DS. Used it to restore back to original mset so I can unlink nands.

Everything you would need to know is on the gateway user manual, or in this forum. Doing some google search wouldn't hurt too :)
MSET is the system setting app on 3ds.

Settings is a non-essential app, you are not risking any brick in case installation fails or you delete the actual settings, you simply won´t be able to launch the settings. I know there was an specific devmenu version that worked, but honestly, i find a bit of time consuming to google search for it, i just simply couldn´t find it anywhere; FBI on the other hand its simple to obtain (just take a look at the 3ds homebrew section within these boards).

ahhhh, now why didnt GW just make a MSET only downgrade pack for N3DS users, they already had the framework there for the function of downgrading titles from within the GW menu without relying on people messing about with devmenu and switching SD card to install to sysnand etc

That would be easier for everyone lol.

It might be because FBI is not made using code by Nintendo, hence widely accepted and recommended in forum. But suggesting it STRONGLY in this situation would be risky anyway. You don't want more and more people messing their sysNAND apps and then keep creating topics to get help fix it as they didn't made a backup of their sysNAND, etc.

lol I thought the very same thing yesterday! :D
GW thought that everyone using GW must be following 3DS scene so just making a quick (incomplete) guide would be fine :P

I am using o3ds with Gateway. I checked my friends list but it gets stuck and freezes. I also have a dilemma iwth NNID in System settings on emunand, and it tells me that I have to create a new NNID. Makes no sense. I already have a nintendo network ID. It tells me to create a new one because there is no nintendo network ID there. whats going on?
