So we're looking into GX2 functions, and I managed to set my Gamepad on fire.

Code, if anyone cares.

I suppose that would be nice for a romantic night for those that don't have a fireplace :ha:

In all seriousness, though, what does that mean for homebrew development? Does this mean you're working on getting an image to render on the gamepad separately from the TV? (I know what GX2 is and what it does, just not why you're messing with the GamePad specifically)

Moreso trying to document functions for homebrew, but yes.

Soo, was it burned permanently? Damn, we can use that code maybe against enemies.

Nah, just screen corruption :P

GX2 lets us control both the TV and Gamepad separately, we just happen to use the Gamepad, probably because it requires a smaller buffer.

Ah, ok, thanks guys! I appreciate getting updates, they remind me that the scene isn't in imminent danger of self-destruction lol

Keep up the good work ^_^

Any indication of brightness/backlight control? That's something I'm interested in for battery life. I don't really like plugging things in to charge while using them.

avm.rpl has two promising functions, AVMEnableTVDimming() and AVMEnableDRCDimming(), both of which take a numeric argument, but I haven't tested either one. DRC means Gamepad, by the way.

Awesome you two. I really don't understand why they didn't add that themselves. Or maybe I just can't find it. Thanks for the response. Seems we may have a pretty interesting scene for nintendo this time around, not that the Wii is bad or anything though.

DRC = Digital Receiving Controller (but I jest lol)

The wii was just really underpowered. Everything was fine, for the abilities of the wii, but I wish it was much better.

I will never forget super sonic wii. Was the best homebrew out there imo

Yea, that's pretty much the same thing I meant lol. The Wii has some super mods and apps for it. I especially like the NSMB mods done with Reggie myself. The Wii U is looking more and more desirable as this all progresses though. If we can get a plugin system or auto elf loader, brightness control would be a good one to add to that. Hopefully could set a button combo to adjust brightness (like home and + - for up down).

I'm curious about the TV dimming though. My TV automatically adjusts to light so I wonder if it would work on mine. I can turn it off in the service menu but hoping it works, both of them (TV/Pad).

You guys know that you can change the brightness of the gamepad right?
Just press Home, touch the icon up to the right and it's there.
I was seriously wondering what was so interesting about the brightness of the gamepad and just thought maybe they were talking about something different that I didn't understand :P

Yeah, but it doesn't go nearly as dark as I'd like it at times :P Plus it's nice to know how it works for when I decide to figure out porting f.lux

Well, it's true I didn't see that lol, it has 5 (10 including power saving mode) levels. If it can be adjusted through a numerical value (0-100 or 0x00-0xFF ((i know FF is 255 lol))), it would be better. The screen brightness isn't really that low on 1 with power saving mode enabled either. My phone brightness goes much lower and the battery lasts much longer. I'm not sure of the gamepads power consumption for a comparison though. If it is as low as it's possible to get it even through a hack, it would be pointless, atleast for me. Others might like intermediary levels of brightness though too.
