I just bought a New Nintendo 3D XL and I was sure that because it was a Majora's Mask Edition then that would mean that it is under or version 9.2 as mentionned in many threads here (didn't bother to look at S/N).

The thing is that I think they just restock their New Nintendo 3DS and that means that every single New N3DS XL - MM Edition are all 9.4.

I have actually a 3DS XL with 9.2. Is there any way to transfer my system to my N3DS so that it can be 9.2 as it is supposed to be?

If you are handy you can buy a regular one on 9.2 or below and then swiitch the motherboards and then return it. I hear it takes about an hour.

This is your best bet. I just did it today and it took me 3 hours because I was stupid, but everything worked out in the end. Just be patient and gentle and you should be fine. Also, some of the smaller connectors aren't supposed to flip up, so test each ribbon cable to see if you can pull it out without flipping up the connector. If I had followed that step alone, I would have saved about 2 hours of work. If your 3DS powers on but turns off shortly after, unplug and replug every connector back in again until it works. Good luck.

Yeah, the second MM shipment were always unlikely to be on 9.2.

I've got one sitting here unopened, if it's above 9.2 (and I fully expect it to be), it's going to impact resale value considerably. I might have to sell my other MN one (first shipment) instead. No love lost, I hate the finish.

Whatever you decide, post your serial in the appropriate thread. It'll help prevent others making the same stupid mistake. Good luck! :)

id hardly call it a 'stupid' mistake,

Yeah I repacked it as it was not opened so I can resell it locally (ppl are willing to pay over 300 for it!).
EBGames employee told me that it was their last one (MM Edition) so it's kinda normal that I jumped over it.

I just paid for another one with v9.0 on it (this time I looked at the S/N even if the cashier was wondering why).

Thanks for the notice!

im in the same boat, i went into the store, and cant believe my eyes, there's a MM n3ds on the shelf
quickly snatch it up and when i get home, it's on 9.4

not sure what to do, wait or just sell it off

Interesting enough, the second shipment of MM edition was on 9.0...

The "stupid mistake" was that he didn't check the serial number. Did you think I meant something else?

Buying a system randomly without checking the serial when you're after a specific version is a stupid mistake. Don't you agree?

Rad, that means I can keep my second sealed and sell it at a premium in 6-12 months time.
