with sky you'll be able to run cubic ninja, which will let you make a nand backup of your system nand as it is now, and some things like dump retail saves etc.

You can't set up emunand or boot emunand without a gateway card, karl will do that herself when she wants to release it next year.
I'm unaware of any other software which can create an emunand on the n3ds yet.


Also, deggezezzo or whatever, you should re-enable the spiderhax too while you're at it.

i dont think they could as spider is not loaded by sysnand, i think the only reason MSET is restore-able for the n3DS is that the new3ds uses the same MSET application as the old 3ds.....so it will still load an older version if you manage to get an older version installed....whereas the n3DS homescreen will only launch skater, it will not launcher spider, even if you remove skater and install spider as it doesnt look to for spider

...wait what?..does it mean i hardmodded my n3ds for nothing?? didnt know it was possible to backup our nand with ninjhax..i dont understand how it can even be possible without full access..

you can use gateway's launcher for cubic ninja to create a nand dump.

Most people would use a nand dump to get back to a vulnerable system nand if they updated or did something foolish and bricked.
If you can't run the gateway magical code horses through your 3ds, you wouldn't be able to write your nand backup back to the console.

oh yeah for old 3ds console you can do it via devmenu, the browser is the only system title that you can freely delete and install via devmenu, so afaik you could simply uninstall the new version and re-install the older build......but this is all about adding new entry points, nobody wanting to use this should be on sysnand 9.3+, in which case the spider exploit still works (for old 3ds consoles)

FIRM and firmware aren't the same thing.
FIRM is a special partition on the NAND in which resides ARM9 Kernel, ARM11 Kernel, Process9, and few ARM11 modules.
Other system titles (and games) are NCCH.
They managed to break (with an unknown method) 9.6 FIRM encryption, but not 9.6 NCCH encryption.
So no 9.6 emuNAND.

yeah oot and cubic ninja are the only entry points for gateway atm on the n3ds.....and they only work on the n3ds atm too

..In fact, for a couple of reasons, i would have bought a gw card if there was support for n3ds a couple of weeks ago, and i still might get one one day if i still have the need for it..

I like both cards, they cater to different people. Both have disadvantages/advantages. sky3ds for the not so experienced users and GW for those that want more and understand the risk.
