Download a program called 3DNUS or UpdateCDN. Which ever one suits your fancy for the job. I believe typing 9.5.0-23 in the title info field and putting USA in the version field will have it download all the CIAs needed for a 9.5 update. Same applies to UpdateCDN.

Tried this on my Japanese n3ds emunand on 9.4 (it was previously on 9.5 but a mishap with custom theming blackscreened it and I stupidly didn't do a backup) and after installing the downloaded 9.5 cias, I get a blackscreen upon launching gw mode. =/

Was it working on 9.4 before you tried CIAs?

Try updating to 9.5.0-22x or 9.5.0-23x

Originally updated straight from 9.1 to 9.5 with no issues. Forgot to backup 9.5 (well, at this point I guess I can't blame anyone for suspecting me of making silly mistakes after all) and broke it via a theming accident. Restored 9.1 and updated to 9.4 via majors's mask rom after learning of 9.6. 9.4 works flawlessly, but using N3DUS-acquired 9.5.0-23 JPN CIAs to update to 9.5 results in blackscreen on next gw-boot.
Likewise, updating only the JPN equivalents in the previous list of operable CIAs results in a blackscreen as well.

I don't think so but i know 100% that you can back up your emunand and use it for the same 3ds with a new sd card, id say if the emunand was able to be used with other 3ds's they were not made on then some one would have posted links to there own.

It continues to raise the question of whether or not the Sky3DS is all that blockable. I mean, one could argue that this was primarily a feature update and not so much an antipiracy update, but they still stuck their generic message in there implying that they did what they could to hold pirates back even further. Of course, we have only had the Sky for all of about six-ish months, but I mean, if the Sky3DS was simple to block or even a little complex, I think even Nintendo would have figured it out after about half a year.

I honestly don't think it will be blocked. For all the 3DS knows it's a legit card and that's that. All the hand shakes done are identical to a real card and I don't think a software update will be able to detect it.

I'm stuck on 8.1.0-0J, which doesn't have the multirom menu. Can I update emuNAND with a physical cart like MM and get 9.4 this way, or will this brick my device?

Will probably brick. Don't do it unless you're willing to hardmod to fix.

Ouch. Well, seems like they just need to do an update and it should be fine...

See, 9.5.0-XXx basically locked everyone out of kernal access. EmuNAND allowed users to run emu9.5 but they were still stuck on sys9.2.

Then 9.5.0-23 came along and blocked web injection. Hence my 9.5.0-22. (no pokeinjection for non-GW on 23)

Then I noticed SSB got a version update blocking online, and I bet Pokemon is next on 9.6.

So 9.6 is going after emuNAND. They really don't like ROM dumps. It's not even the cheating or homebrewing. Or even the fact your ROM dumping! It's the header IDs. They really don't like that. Especially since Sky3DS users can use the header IDs to play online with.

Hence my recommending "Sky3DS>Gateway>have fun". They really need each other right now.

They probably don't care about Sky3DS knowing that headers can be blocked. So they went after GW from sharing headers.

Hence... we really need to start reverse engineering PowerSaves Pro and turn it into a ROM dumper and header ripper.

It would relieve GW and Sky3DS and make the 3rd party contract with Nintendo their problem.

Because we all know PowerSaves Pro is in bed with Nintendo. So use the cheat device to cheat. And let Nintendo go back to being a Snorlax.

I'm positive GW will go the way of Sky3DS, but this means running like a DSTwo with cart spoofing and emuChip installed. But this means homebrew is what is getting killed off.

So the N3DS is trying to phase out homebrewers and ROM dumpers so Nintendon't can legitimize new hires and $40.oo games (which c'mon, some are worth $20 at most) and then we'll have to find a new way to ROM dump.

The fact the Japanese Cyber Saves does it, makes me think Powersaves can too. But they're not going to write that software FOR us.

The obvious thing is that Powersaves uses a server to transfer saves through encryption. So we just use their server to pull encryption onto our edits?

See, this is why I'm so nosey. If we could figure out how to strip the encryption out of a FW update, replace the update on SD and then run it through our system encryption, we could also do the same with savedata, couldn't we? But then our 3DSes would have to connect to a PC to push the file through.

I dunno.... I'm sure you guys have tried this since I've seen lots of 3DS board solders going on.

But eventually, we need to start connecting the 3DS (new or old) to the PC to fake our own encryption. Then we can push through using a 4-way handshake from PC, Cart slot, SD Slot, 3DS.

So that's why my emunand didn't boot yesterday when i tried to update, black screens.
I was starting fresh on a spare SD to try out a legit cia installing on sysnand.

Have to wait now before updating that emunand now, cause the game needs a higher FW then 4.5 (Pokémon Alpha Sapphire)
in the meantime i put in my other SD again. Lucky i made an emunand backup from the spare SD before trying to do the update.

And this morning i saw on my N3DS (FW9.5.0-23E) that there was a new system update, then my euro felt

Here's my funny experience with Sky3DS:

I own a legit PKMN-AS copy. I installed OR/X/Y on my Sky3ds and THEY WORK WITH POWERSAVES!!! I can max out my items and $$$ I just can't backup saves from the Sky3DS since the savedata is on the 3DS SD card.

So I am currently getting legit copies of OR porkies and then using webinjection to dump and compile a master collection using PKHex and then restoring back to my legit cart.

The only porky I need right now is a legit Arceus. Everything else I can get.

I did gen a couple unlegit legendaries to unlock the AS game (before I had Sky3DS). So apparently the PowerSaves Pro will work with your Pokemon games (OR/AS/X/Y) if you already have a legit copy.

Just a neat bit of info.

Oh, and DO setup a Homepass for Cresselia. You'll be able to unlock all the mirages at once and I guarantee you'll get Cresselia within the first bunch of 30 homepasses you get.

Again, proof that ID headers are passing through Powersaves Pro. Imagine if we could pass through FW??? We could downgrade FW and install emuNAND...
