They're system CIAs, they don't get removed in a system format. :P

Anyway, I know they're there because after skipping steps 7-8, I have duplicate titles (ie, one from each region)

If you install all the CIAs from another region but don't remove the original system files, can you in theory swap between the two regions freely by changing the SecureInfo file?

yeah pretty much, i was wondering if maybe the karl3DS team could add a patch to allow patching the firm on startup to look for say secureinfo_A and secureinfo_B so you could pretty much switch between the 2 at boot up....it would probably have to spoof a few other files too like movable.sed but in theory you could freely swap between them both from the karl3DS menu

Would that in turn allow dual eShop access in theory?

I'm planning on doing it on SysNand, once I can figure out how to make it not crash whenever I wake from sleep mode in EmuNand.

IF everything works out okay I may just end up importing a JP n3ds cause they're cheaper...
remember you will need a Japanese cubic ninja(or sky3ds), and as soon as you region change it becomes somewhat useless(unless it was a sky3ds)....unless you go into the business of selling US normal n3DS consoles

That wouldn't be a bad idea but since everyone who cares could do it themselves and anyone who doesn't care wouldn't buy a hacked console from a shady source it wouldn't be easy to turn a profit...

will be more of an issue finding burner consoles to get the secureinfo from, guess 2DS's or normal 3DS's are cheap enough now, buy them and swap the secure info files over , we dont want a lot of banned n3DS's for all using the same serial, im sure you could still shift the japanese 3DS's if they are on an exploitable FW anyway

maybe look towards buying broken systems to fix up enough to rip the secure info, then strip down for parts, you could probably turn a profit on those too

Also couldn't you use pbt-cfw to install the JP cubic ninja cia onto the 9.2 new 3ds sysnand? Easier than buying a sky or an actual copy.

And doesn't the console have to be brand new for the secureinfo-A to work on the eshop?

No, for a large number of different reasons—among many other things, PBT doesn't work on the N3DS.

That's right, doesn't the govanify CFW have to use 4.5 cause of some version-specific registers or something like that? I imagine it won't be long before someone updates that CFW to work on later firmwares.

well as i said its not an exact science yet, only a handful of people have been playing around with the region swapping stuff, there is supposed to be ways to fix it, but its all pretty much "newish" territory, thats why there is no real guides yet, as even the people who know how to do it dont know all the limitations, or if it might cause issues down the line etc......once everything is figured out it will probably get a good tutorial and tools etc, but atm its just something for experimenting with

cubic ninja and oot are the only known entry points on the n3DS....so no matter what unless that changes you will always need CN or oot to do anything
