My N3DS has been in standby for hours with the GW card in, just took it out and its cool to the touch, so nope. Will the GW cart heat up while the N3DS is in standby? Maybe
it will shorten its life if it does?
Mine has never been even warm, except the one time I left my 3ds on the radiator while it was on.I found out that it heats a bit during standby, not to the point where you have to remove it.
Selecting a ROM from the Multi-ROM menu and leaving it there heats it up a tiny bit more.
But when playing, it gets very hot.

Until 2.6 it was not.Isn't the gateway cart just a drm dongle?

Also, I still can't find reasoning behind why they allow you to boot into Classic mode without a red card (without all features yes), and they don't outright cockblock you.
I think 3.0.3 allowed me on O3DSHow do you boot classic mode without a cart? It always black screens for me. Old gateway firmware?
You can only enter classic mode without the red card up to FW 7.2 emunand, anything over that will black screen as they don't allow 7.x decryption without inserting the red card (8.x use 7.x encryption on key parts of the FW which is why they don't work)How do you boot classic mode without a cart?
