That's what Caffiine is. And it hasn't, yet. Don't update, though, the next one almost certainly will

Cafiine isn't the exploit, it's just something that uses it. As the video I posted demonstrated, it can be used with any kernel exploit that works similarly, ours or Chadderz's. His bug could very well get patched, but as he hasn't shared details, that's unlikely.

Sorry, I was reading it as him asking what they were using to patch MK8, which is a primitive version of what Caffiine is now, right??

So his exploit can get patched, do you mean by that that your exploit can't get patched? That would be awesome!!

Any exploit could be patched as long as Ninty knows what it is. If they don't know what the issues are, they can't fix it ;)

Theres a simple solution for all of this, nobody update beyond 5.3.2, whenever a new update is deployed, wait for confirmation that the update is safe before proceeding.

Once CFW is a reality official updates will only matter for when you want to initially exploit the console to install said cfw. After that, just keep up to date with patches for your fw and you're golden.

I know the scene is quite a ways off from CFW, but imo its the direction we need to head in, if we dont want to constantly play cat and mouse with nintendo.

Of course having a custom OS/fw generally means forfeiting (official) online play (ie ps3 and 360) so the user has to decide whats more inportant to him/her.

Having pretty much free reign over the console for homebrew, hacking etc, or being able to play games online on Big N's servers...

I think that is the first rule about any hacking scene. If the latest fw is exploitable, remain on it, download whatever demos/games you think you will want, and block servers/delete wifi settings.

I'm still considering my choices in what game I should get from the e-Shop as my CN reward :/ 840 coins atm. If only there was Mean Bean Machine on Virtual Console lol.
