Correct, though in the near future we'll probably get emuNAND working and then you'll be able to download it with that. emuNAND /should/ be undetectable which is the nice part, no bans hopefully (at least with that, if you do stupid stuff like trying to cheat online then of course you're gonna get banned)
With an IOSU exploit would it be possible to just install the update data on sysNAND? That way my original saves are still useful and I don't have to switch over to emuNAND, however that'll end up working. Great work though.

Just remembered to post this, I figured out what the 3rd word (0x08-0x0C) is in Yaz0 compressed Wii U files. Apparently it tells the Wii U the padding size of the SARC inside. Most of the Nintendo Land ones pad to 0x2000, so you need to change that third word to 0x2000 as well. That said, this version lets you do exactly that. I added an optional third argument to specify the padding size (in decimal), or it defaults to 0x100. I've triple checked everything (with testing from Cafiine) and this should be all you need to do basic repacking of archives. As I discovered, drag and drop doesn't work with SARCPack (but does with yaz0enc) still.
SARCPack Source Code
SARCPack 32-BIT EXE
Yaz0enc with source
HxD Hex Editor (my recommended hex editor for Windows)

If you wanted to do that, then just update. You'd need a CFW for when they inevitably patch our stuff.

...when they inevitably patch our stuff.

How do you know they will patch it? Perhaps they will just release a new system. Or they might be too distracted by their amiibos and new 3DSes to notice our hacking. Or the Borg might assimilate everyone in Japan!! :P My point is, you never know what's going to happen... :D

Yeah, I don't think they'd notice online game hacking, nor would they pay attention to game modding or the potential piracy. They also would be totally fine with unauthorized modding.

My point is, you never know what's going to happen.

By default, USB is encrypted. That would give homebrU a place to store files, but a computer couldn't make heads or tails of it. We need the unique per-console OTP keys to allow a computer to read a WFS formatted drive. The files could be saved on an unencrypted USB stick, but that would be a lot of extra work for someone to rewrite the USB IO, and (probably an IOSU exploit to even allow that). The Wii U does have built-in support for unencrypted SD cards, but sadly the browser lacks the permissions to use those features. That's why we need an IOSU exploit.

EDIT: You got me again, NWPlayer123! :ninja:

So the SD is accessible, while the USB is a problem. Any way to format USB storage in a way that the Wii U thinks its talking to an extremely large SD card? I figure a hardware mod between the SD and USB ports would have to happen before that though...

That is absolutely possible with software! It would just require an IOSU exploit. Since an IOSU exploit automatically grants us access to an unencrypted SD card, that will most likely be the first place used to store homebrU data. Of course, I'm sure that in time there will be support for unencrypted USB drives. It just will require more work than using an SD card.

I'd like to see Iwata's face when the homebrew scene releases an N64 emulator for Wii U mode before Nintendo brings any N64 game to the eshop
That would be pathetic for them. XD
The Homebrew Scene beating them to a method to play N64/DS games on a Wii U before their so called VC. XD

Lame, Nintendo, but you had it coming with more than a year of nothing about the matter.
I was expecting N64/DS games to at least reach 10 in the VC by now. >=C

hopefully wont be difficult seeing as not64 is looking quiet good considering its only using wii hardware :). i doubt nintendo will bother putting the work in. (nintendont beat the big N) and so will our other emulators (ds/n64).
if only nintendo pulled there fingers out there arses a long time ago. lol

ppl understimate what the wiiu power would be able to do, preety much any emulator would run flawlessly on the speed department considering the huge change from wii to wiiu processor power.

Also, there's more memory so you don't have to deal with swapping (example: Wii64/Not64)

Maybe one of the goals Emulator-wise should be to beat nintendo to the punch?
In fact, im gonna add that to to the idea thread.

we are already beating them and it will continue im sure lol really nintendo have been unbelieveable lazy with this console and have done next to nothing for it (may it lay in the good hands of the modders/hackers from now on)

The really awesome thing is that if we can get up-to-speed N64 and DS emulators on the Wii U, it will be possible to play every Nintendo game ever released on the console flawlessly, minus 3DS games
