Backups are only an issue when is CD format.... But in cart, no worries. I understand concept of have roulette wheel of all owned games in one place.... Too much covinience.

Now on more on topic, perhaps Karl3DS is have two files? One for New3DS and Past3DS? Or maybe file format are able detection of model? How to work this?

I would assume that they're only gonna release one file, same as what they did with bootstrap.3dsx, as they are using APT_CheckNew3DS to know if its an old3DS or n3DS.
Then, they've checked the kernel version to know the specific addresses that they need to patch.

I'm still excited to see whatever they're going to release, since the community will be the one who benefits from them.

I like what this girl had to say on the topic of emulators being equivalent to opening piracy on a new platform with no piracy:

Also you speak of debating an issue like there is an issue to be debated here. In this particular situation, it's take it or leave it. We're making a loader that lets users be region free, along with other stuff including a proper homebrew loader through the home menu. If you don't like that, you don't have to use it or even imagine it exists. You don't have to post in our thread, either.

All of that being said; to everyone else, sorry if we come off a little salty sometimes. It gets pretty tiring dealing with /r/atheism-tier commentary on our work on a day-to-day basis.

It's KK Wulfy. Idiots will be idiots, trolls will be trolls, and Pirates... Well, you get the point. You and the rest of the team keep up the good work! I'm just lurking and waiting patiently so I can play my copy of MH4U on my 8.1J N3DS. I caught it on sale at Play-Asia.com... I'm not letting Nintendo decide what hardware is best for me. WHITE N3DS FTW!

To those who dev here, when running the Homebrew Launcher, Pressing Y doesnt seem to activate 3DSLink? Anyone know why?

I'm running wifi of a LAN with no internet to prevent 3DS downloading any updates. I use the 3DSLink.3dsx and it works fine, but its annoying having to run it from the menu every time.

Last week I got a phone call and turns out I won a brand new car but then this week the dealership called again and they told me that they will keep the car for themselves because it drives over 100 mph and they fear I could get into a car accident and that they don't wanna be liable for that.
Now I don't feel like I'm entitled to a new car but still I feel sad because I thought I would get a new car and now I don't.

Then remove any mention of the word Open and the word source from the OP? Also you might want to remove kernel access since that's not the overall goal anymore, its a homebrew loader. It's not our fault if your goal has changed so much due to public pressure that your own OP isn't recognizable anymore.

I fully understand that you get annoyed with some of the people bringing this up, but we make valid points. What your work is, is no longer what it set out to be. This should be reflected in the OP.

Valid points? Eehh. Cmon. This is not debatable. It's their project. They do whatever THEY want. Please. Stop spamming and trolling this thread!

crap analogy, more like
i got a phone call saying i had won a car, but they didn't agree with speeding so it would be limited to 50mph, I assumed i would be free to just open it up and bypass their limit, but it is now clear that they will not be making it so easy by pinpointing exactly what i should do, to bypass their limitation....so now im butthurt, i still get exactly what was offered except i assumed it would be super easy to bypass their limitation thus making their limitations pointless in the first place

Ok, if they don't want discussion then why not just release information in a series of blog posts. Making a forum thread to discuss the project and then barring the discussion of the project in a way you don't like is counter-intuitive.

I'm sorry. A beggar can't pick his meal.

If I was one of the developers I would consider to NOT even release anything to the 3ds scene. Not like Yellows8 and Co. attitude that 'we are some elite bastards that don't share' but rather 'are we really going to do all this work for some trolls?'.

Yeah, so the trolls win, because the people who were loyal to the project won't get anything at all. :D

Guys the argument of being able to "backup your carts" honestly died last generation. If you want all your games stored on your SD card then buy them from the eshop.

I really don't want to try and beat the dead horse that is a piracy debate, as it's obviously not going to be happening here, but buying your carts isn't really viable if you actually care about having a collection long term. What happens when 5 (or even 3 at the rate they're going) years down the road, nintendo decides to take it upon themselves to kill the eShop for 3ds? You're suddenly unable to access your entire library. This is a BIG problem in my book. I can't speak for everyone here, but when I buy a game, i BUY the game. I still have plenty of systems that are long since past end of life, and I still play games on them on a relatively frequent basis. IMO, eShop is pretty much the worst thing out there if you're a long term collector. I guess though, sinking hundreds of dollars to rebuy my games on the eShop is obviously a viable alternative if i want the convenience of having my library with me...

I second that. You might have seen what happened to the DS online services last year. Digital distribution just like DLC and microtransactions is only one more way of the industry to rip off consumers without providing additional value in return. And most importantly it is not future proof at all.
Regardless, I want to be able to look at the fine boxart of my retail games lined up on the shelf. And having the option to sell my collection when I really need money for something more important is a feeling of financial security I'm not looking forward to miss anytime soon.

Another question, how are you guys debugging your code? Is it possible or is it just simply write the code, execute repeat.

Our code is ARM9 but I'm still sending it over the network, I don't know about everyone else.

Same, although to expand a bit, we are currently bundling our ARM9 code into our 3dsx so we can send one giant package over to netloader. This might change depending on the payload we use though. It works fairly quickly for me though so I use netloader.

Ppl that are spamming with "make it open source" or "enable piracy" in the end it's their project, their call, someone else could make that in the future RI the process they made, in the end piracy will happen, i really like this project because it opens doors that gateway kept closed, so maybe with that they will open them to us or this will be the other option, as I said before I would love to see savedatafiler working with original cartridges to pass on my mh4u back and forth from 4g but that will be something to wait for
