So... I saw some people saying think about emunand, is this the same kind of emunand that flashcards uses, the run through the SD card and let you update and access the eshop? Also, is this compatible with Gateway's emunand?
If so, I can't wait until you release this  I wanted to download Flipnote Studio since last month but I can't

Yes and yes.

so if this is compatible with gateways emunand couldnt we use our gateway cards on the n3ds in the karl3ds emunand mode (lmao if that even makes sense.)

assuming this is released before gw releases their n3ds support

Sure, you'll be able to install all sorts of signed content including system applications, system data archives, system applets, and even system firmware!

and monster hunter 4 u assuming youd have the ability to dump the cia from the mh4u limited edition n3ds and i believe the european mm3d n3ds came with mm3d preinstalled as well so then eur consoles would have that too :P

Honestly, it makes far more sense for Sky users to do this. Gateway carts require custom patches to work (select for multirom, etc.) while sky would benefit from the region free. Gateway would still do nothing in KARL mode.

Edit: For clarification, I mean Gateway will be a useless piece of plastic in KARL, as it requires hacks to do anything piracy related.

If you guys manage to release this before Gateway releases theirs...You will be remembered as gods! :P
Hopefully GW releases first so we can get all these pirates out of here. We're not going to delay or anything, though.

We're sure as fuck not going out of our way to build pirate cart support into our CFW.

just curious by your statement saying it support "gateways emunand" i guess i was just curious if u literally meant gateways emunand. since gateways emunand supports running gateways cart lol. which allows alot more than piracy i wasnt trying to start a piracy debate. just curious more or less of how things are working.

no, just using the same emunand formatting, offsets etc i would assume to maintain compatibility with existing tool like emunandtool and ticket dumping tools and stuff like that

....but can you block sky3ds ....that would settle the "can sky3ds be blocked" debate

Your GW emunand is just a stock 3DS NAND, so long as you don't install unsigned content onto it. If you boot it natively, you won't have any of those features.

Here's hoping for this, too, since I originally picked up a Gateway before this project even existed on the hope that regionthree would have seen a port to N3DS for use with it, and if they did happen to release first, then I wouldn't have to invest in importing an already expensive copy of JPN Cubic Ninja :/

This. I ended up using some of my amazon credit for a JPN copy. I was lucky and got it for $43 with prime shipping. I wish it was still on the eShop.

This just bumped in my head:

What would you guys do if you finish this and then Gateway comes up with their update...
But somehow they grabbed some of your Open Source to further implement it in their exploit for N3DS?

Would a legal war be insured? XD

If people could sue gateway, Ninty would have done so looong ago. Odds are they would just roll with it.

This project does not involve finding exploits, only using already known ones. Gateway already knows how to use all of the same exploits, so there is nothing they could gain from the open source parts.

I didn't mean the exploit, but all the other stuff related to the N3DS specifically, that's why I said "grabbed some of your Open Source to further implement it in their exploit", meaning they could grab some info like offsets, keys, sign checks, whatever for the upcoming release.

Wow, the progress here is outstanding. I have a few questions though.

1. Would it be possible to import the KAR3DS Emunand to the GW Emunand when GW support actually releases (my friend was wondering this)
2. If you system transfered from old 3DS Emunand to KARL3DS Emunand, then wipe out the emunand. Would you be able to reformat the emunand, then login to your NNID from the fresh emunand, and download all your eshop games? This is because eshop games are kept in the hardware until the system transfer, and I am wondering if the emunand system transfer could affect sysnand.
