Still I wish I could have such a job, it's so easy to make money doing this, some people can pay up to 50€ to hack a Wii...
yeah but thats what i mean, I'm not going to lie i set up a few systems for people, didn't sell any games or whatever, but its fairly obvious why people wanted them....I'm not trying to take the whole moral high ground and if the team behind karl3ds wanted to make a free rom loader, well that's their choice, im just pointing out that once it does happen and its a usable experience, (not like what the current leaked CFW is) basically it opens up the door to 101 resellers which pretty much opens the floodgates for everyone who knows someone owning a 3ds that can pirate games, as it stands i only know like 3 people irl who own a gateway card, that's a pretty small minority compared to the dozens of people i know with hacked wii's as it was all to easy for them
marksteele, Death7879, Gamesquest, ..and the rest who talks about piracy:
next time, go here if you have something to say about piracy please: why are hackers so against piracy? GBAtemp
i hope you guys understand its not personal, but this thread need to be ONLY about the project, and not about piracy.:moogle:
sorry i got dragged into it again XD...i will try refrain now, im just surprised some people are still posting rather ill informed stuff :P

There's also not the same amount of people with a Wii than people with a 3DS but yeah personally if my friends didn't know me, they wouldn't know about 3DS hacking methods and only one of my friends own a Gateway, Wii hacking is so easy, especially with the letterbomb method...

Edit: I'll also try to not go off topic, we're not discussing piracy but hacking methods, it's still off topic though...

Same as what happened to gamesquest XD

It would be much easier if the devs would just stop calling this project "anti-piracy" (because of emulators) or "open-source" (because of the closed-source parts).
It doesn't take any more effort. While most of the people defending KARL3DS are blinded by their imagination telling them that the questions that have been asked lead to the conclusion that people asking these questions want piracy enabled, they can't understand that these questions were about a lot less than that. It's just calling something by the name, not misleading people.

Or in short: Devs can of course just make KARL3DS a normal homebrew loader without warez capabilities AND the kernel exploit closed-source (and everything else open-source), but then they should call it something different than they do right now.

Does anyone of the "piracy people" disagree with how I put it?

yah its understandable lol..but when someone talks about piracy, just dont reply, or else it starts the discussion again and again and it never stops  ..

in an attempt to try bring things back on topic, have you guys considered features like screen shots and stuff like that, or is that something you would consider further down the line

yeah I also posted asking about a possible plugin functionality, just like this chinese CFW, but no answer yet ;)

non-sense, if you're against their decisions about piracy, you can still go talk about it here: why are hackers so against piracy? GBAtemp

This thread is not the place for discussing about if you want piracy or not. Its their choices, its not up to us to decide if we can talk about piracy here. :teach:

I don't believe we ever stated it would be 100% open source in the main thread, so I wouldn't say it's misleading. I initially wanted it 100% open source. Things happened, and as it turns out, releasing an ARM9 loader isn't the best idea. Once you get firmlaunch hax, patching is super easy. And we don't even have emulators loaded at all, so don't try and pull that crap again. And even then, emulators do nothing to directly circumvent signature checks unless they are loaded as .CIA, 3DS piracy requires this. It's like saying ninjhax isn't anti-piracy, it and it's developers blatantly are, and the entire thing is the result of developers realizing that having a proper CFW could potentially lead to piracy so they took a different usermode only route. This is not a homebrew loader, this us a CFW to remove region locking and to enhance the default user experience.

You failed at reading. Where in my post did I state that I want to talk about that matter? You show the exact behavior that I wrote in the sentence right after the one that you quoted. Congratulations.

"Oh no, someone uses the word 'piracy' and doesn't say that he is totally against it, so he must be someone who wants it in KARL3DS."
This is stupid.

The more you guys misunderstand the situation, the more insulting it is to us that you don't even read what we are trying to tell you (which is obviously not whining about not getting warez loaders and stuff... I couldn't care less for this).

lol..honestly? ..i read correctly what you meant, i was talking in general when people come here to talk about the piracy they would want and cant have! you think you'Re the only one here?
As for you, dont play with words ok? if either you want piracy OR just want to talk about it, do it here: why are hackers so against piracy?GBAtemp

..i cant be more clear! dont try to be a smart-ass..just think!..

what is stupid is not realizing that from the beginning of this thread, yes people where whining about not having piracy in it!..so yah i guess you should read others comments and not just yours..

So if I just want to tell these guys that they should rename their project, because it contains flaws, then I'm fine, because this is not actually talking about what is discussed in the thread you threw at me?

Why did you reply to my post in the first place then, showing me a discussion I don't intend to attend?

stop being a smartass acting liek you ''need'' to win a fight or something, if you have something to say, inbox me! respect this thread.

shesh, guys this is a gateway style experience for legit users, i wish this would of came out sooner, as alot of people bought a gateway so they could use rom hacks and region free and keep exploitable firmwares......this will allow legit users do those things, if your not a legit user, go with gateway, if your a legit user, you potentially get most of the benefits of gateway without needing to buy a flashcard

You're the one that replies to EVERYTHING people say. It kinda sounds like your the one who wants to "win" the argument because if you really didn't you just wouldn't reply lol

On another note while this part IS piracy related I just wanted to pop this in as an interesting read for both sides A study of the distribution of digital games via bittorrent it's an interesting read and the only non-industry study on the effects of piracy that specifically covers games. (that I could find anyway)

Anyway I'm washing my hands of this now that the developers seem to have made it clear that they aren't supporting emulators as the same checks that stop retail games will stop emulators.
