I did exactly everything the instructions said, watched the video, went over my steps multiple times, turned off all firewalls and the ctrl client still doesn't connect.

The CFW, when the L button is pressed before booting, is very, very unstable. If the stability of the CFW in normal is that unstable I wouldn't have used it.......

Fortunately once you install DevMenu it's smooth saiing from there.....

2 things. 1. are you booting with the L button, as described? Without it, the file will never push over. 2. if so, it's still a little iffy, just keep attempting and eventually it will in fact push over.

Yeah I boot with the l button. Guess I'll just keep trying tomorrow... And should I restart my 3DS after it says ctrl client wont connect and do it that way? bc i load the bat multiple times but dont restart the cfw

Shouldn't have to. Should be able to just hammer away at the command over and over. Eventually provided everything's done correctly, it will stick.

So is there any way at all to run the ctrclient in windows xp? I don't have a newer computer :/

found a solution in this thread

read the whole thread and you'll find the solution eventually...

another update..

tried configuring the manual IP address from the nintendo 3ds.. and when clicking the the run.bat.. the wireless light is blinking 3 times.. means its communicating with the laptop.. but again.. I get the failed to connect error. disabled firewall between router and laptop and same error

Dear lord after finally installing the devmenu the feeling is...... Liberating. :B heads up to people who wanna do this. Buy a gateway. Hehe

I might just considering buying a gateway..

May I ask Whats your OFW/original firmware when you installed the CFW?

And what connection did you use for the ctr client? can you give a brief description like. internet connection, modem, router etc thankss

If you have a notebook or wireless card try this, it worked with me:

1- Download Connectify Hotspot 2015;
2- after the install, open the Connectify Hotspot 2015, generate a hotspot and put the password and Connectify-me information into 3ds;
3- Test the connection, if everything works fine the 3DS IP will appear inside Connectify Hotspot 2015 and you can use internet into 3ds browser;
4- Open the CFW 3dsprofile + L ;
5- Open some random page in the 3ds browser to make sure that the 3ds is connected with the PC;
6. Put Connectify Hotspot 2015 3ds IP inside run.bat and it will work within the first try.

I can never get the 3DS to see the hotspot my PC makes, whether I use Connectify or Virtual Router, so YMMV. There's no reason it wouldn't work if they are both connected to the same wifi, though. Whether you're using a router or your PC as the access point, the end result should be the same.

Using wine is an option. It works with wine on linux at least, and probably mac too. http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOnWindows (You have to compile it yourself, though)

Another option may be using a LiveCD: MediCat DVD/another windows 7 LiveCD may also work. If your computer can't handle windows 7 at all, you may try a linux LiveCD, install wine there and run it with that.

For running it with wine, use "wineconsole run.bat".

I had 8.1. Something I forgot. And as for the connection I actually had another pc with win7 but no wireless adapter but I borrowed a usb wifi device. And sorry I can't give too many specifics on the connection cuz its in another persons room and we don't speak much. All I know is it had wpa(2?) TKIP encryption and I just disabled firewall on my pc. Didn't try it with firewall on. It wasn't working the first few tries but it was cuz my 3ds wasn't close enough to the wifi. After moving it closer the ctrclient literally took like a second to do it and man was I happy. Anyways sorry for the long post. Good luck to you guys still trying to get this working.

thank you for this .. might try this method. did you hold the L trigger when you access CFW in installing devmenu?

Yeah i did. Takes a while to load as you probably already know. Even after you get the devmenu installed and don't need to hold L, it takes a few tries. Most tries was literally 8. It's annoying.

EDIT: not sure if this might be helpful but make sure to check your 3ds ip when you go into cfw. Not sure if this might be the case but my IP address was different from when I couldn't get it to work. I mean, it was xxx.xxx.1.18 and for some reason I felt to check it again when I was in cfw (and connected to wifi) and it was xxx.xxx.1.16 so idk maybe check to make sure.
