Holy balls you're behind! Do you have a disk that you can use to update to 4.1.0E? Otherwise there's really no point in leaving it sit non-updated

Actually there is. If the alluded 3.0.1 IOSU exploit is ever leaked/released then they're one of the few people who can actually use it.

Now I regret to have updated my WiiU :(
I would have gladly let him access my WiiU remotely.

Too late I guess :P
It's never too late. :P

I just managed to block everything related to Nintendo updates in my 5.3.2
A little bit late, yeah, but at least I can rest knowing that I have finally blocked any upcoming update.

Since the current exploit works up to 5.1.0, after the initial release, people could work on a >5.1.0 exploit too, which makes 5.3.2 the next one in line, since I don't think that many people would be on 5.2.0 right now.

Just to clarify a few things, I understand if this ends up in nothing. The Wii U is a considerably expensive console and I'm not expecting anyone to just throw one in for free.
Unfortunately, as you probably know already, Marionumber1's Wii U was updated to the latest firmware and we can't use it anymore to fine tune the kernel exploit. Right now, we rely on remote testers to do this, but since we all live in different time zones, progress on the exploit is getting more and more delayed.

I don't have the money to purchase a Wii U and up to this point I never needed one, since we were using Marionumber1's console to dump binaries and test code. However, I've done some progress in reverse engineering said binaries and there are plenty of possibilities from now on and this is why I would need the actual console:
- Wii U console on 5.1.0 firmware or lower: ability to finish the kernel exploit. I've written the kernel exploit code with Marionumber1 and a few others, so I know pretty accurately what to do and what to test in order to reach the right timing needed for the exploit to work. Plus, the claim about being safe to update to 5.3.2 came from me, I've checked all the kernel binaries in depth and confirmed that what we're trying to exploit is not patched in anyway.
- Wii U console on 5.1.1 firmware or higher: not the ideal scenario, but we have plenty of WebKit bug candidates and some potential exploits to test. I would take care of exploiting the WebKit for firmwares 5.1.1+ first and then proceed to help with the kernel exploit.

Now, the other thing I've mentioned that might have confused some people is about the IOSU. I'm not going to disclose any details on this for very obvious reasons and this is not a priority for the average user, just as NWPlayer123 mentioned here:

To everyone talking about Hykem get access to a Wii U:
At this point, the rest of the keys are relatively worthless to the average user. It's the exploit that's important now because with that comes escalated privileges and the ability to dump your storage keys along with the eMMC and NAND. It would be nice to get him a Wii U though so he can test the kernel exploit since he's in our Skype group and is actively helping with it.

The main focus is finishing up the exploit and the progress on that has declined a lot due to very plausible issues (MN1's console updated, lack of time, different time zones). Anyway, I appreciate that this got so much attention, but please, don't feel obligated or in need to help. We'll eventually get there, with or without my contribution.

If you really want to fund a Wii U, you can donate money to: http://jpcsp.org/
I'm one of the coders of JPCSP, so I can receive the money safely from there. Plus, it's safer than just wire the money directly to me.

guess i may as well join in n update too!!
I did, but I can't remember why offhand other than being encouraged to do so as not being totally earth shattering stated with someone emanating a suitable degree of confidence, along with the fact that I was more interested in hacking the vwii.

Still, so far, updates aren't mandatory and are cancellable. I managed to do it in my initial wiiu setup, but see above, and am happily playing monster hunter 3 ultimate. I'm more interested in RPGs and lets face it, there aren't all that many for wii u/wii and I'll probably buy them for the manuals, although I was disappointed that mh3u only came with a little control setup pamphlet OTOH NONE of my vita carts have come with ANY printed documentation, just a box and the cart.

The used wii game that I purchased, tales of symphonia dawn of the new world DID have a nice manual(I like manuals, well, well written/useful ones that I can peruse while say sitting in state... :D) but I digress.

As to just blocking updates, doesn't that cut off access to other things? e.g. I wouldn't have been able to grab the online additions for mh3u? stuff for the 3ds, etc.

I used to buy broken wii u's off ebay and repair them. Because of that I have a spare virgin Wii U that I was saving so I could hack it when the time came. I would love to help out any way I can.

NwPlayer1234 has become one of my favorite people. On here and Twitter. Thanks for the updates. I did not know hykem did so much. It is good to see he'll keep working at it without his own Wii U. An IOSU exploit would be great. Marionumber1 and even WulfyStylez have been great when they stop by. Has anyone seen Maxternal? 8 he involved? He was gifted a Wii U and then I've missed him on here. Is he still around? Keep at it guys :-)

No piracy = no chance of making money from me

And I'm not alone. sad but true.
I was imitating onclejulien. I know what you meant. My understanding is that even with these exploits piracy won't be easy. I've bought about 10 games for myself and my son. We've been enjoying Skylanders Trap Team. The crystals and characters add up quickly.

I understand trying some games you would not buy but pirate all games? Isn't most of the money made off of software sales?

NWPlayer1234? He new?

Even if I don't get most of the stuff you guys post, it is still really interesting to give your posts a read.
It could certainly serve as some sort of introduction to what you guys are doing, and I'm happy enough to know that this is still being worked on at its own pace.

I finally managed to block Nintendo updates and such for both my Wii U and 3DS, and will remain in 5.3.2 until there is a working exploit for that version.
I don't care about online! XD

Keep up the good work guys! And thank you so much for your constant effort.
