NA New Red 3DS XL here (not Canada) with 9.0.0-20U, with serial QW4027. Not sure if they are all on 9.0.0-20 or not, but there are definitely 9.0 consoles above QW4025.

Photos for proof.

Also got a new 3DS XL Black with QW1002 and 9.0.0-20U as well.

Related: how do I make sure I don't accidentally update? Should I format the microSD that came with it? Is it safe to play retail games and not have to worry about updates until Gateway releases the New 3DS XL support?
Would you mind showing the next 2 numbers of the serial number of the 4027? I have access to a launch day 4027 (from Target-I believe)but was gonna make sure it got returned but now may have to take a gamble for the greater good.

Gave up on the $75 tradein value and just bought the console instead

NA Red XL, 9.0 QW1010. Last one in the shop! Phew, guess going in Gamestop one week beforehand to put in a deposit is the right choice!

Just don't configure a wifi connection and don't go to any Nintendo Zone locations. If you download the update then just do a system wipe since you probably don't have any relevant information on the system anyway. Retail carts are fine as long as you don't go online.

Anyone got a EUR n3DS (non XL)? What firmware does that come with?
I'm leaning more towards the regular n3DS so that I can use faceplates, but I don't want to risk getting 9.4.

They come with 9.0
Seen a lot today (i bought an xl tho)
Look for s/n on the box side, you will see:
YEF (white) or YEM (black) then the numbers, you will be surely ok with 100xxxxx x; 101xxxxx x; 102xxxxx x

But what if Nintendo forces updates in the future?

But what if Nintendo forces updates in the future?

How can they force an update on a unit that has never contacted their servers? Just don't configure wifi and avoid Nintendo Zones.

As for system format, it will prompt to update the system, but can't download the update due to lack of internet connection and format anyway.

This doesn't work with >4.x consoles.

Confirmed working on my 9.2 system? DON'T CONFIGURE WIFI. This is not the thread for this conversation - Search other topics/threads and you will find this is the answer.

Last post: If you don't have access to some kind of offline-exploit (e.g. Android Gateway 3DS loader), you need WiFi to access the Gateway-site.

I've bought a new 3ds xl metallic black from amazon.fr. it's fw 9.0.20.

I ve not understood if now can i use a gateway or not?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but what I understand about the firmware, is whether or not you can use a flashcart. Now, does this mean if I get a model (new 3ds) with a firmware v.9.2 or older I will be able to use a Gateway3ds with out issue? I haven't been in the loop since the dsi acekard days:).. I am finely wanting to make the jump to the 3ds, but want to try and get the new one. Thanks for any help given.

Nevermind, just read 2 post's up, sorry. Happy Gaming everyone:)
