A new exploit has emerged which allows the Nintendo 3DS to play games from any region without the need for a flashcard or any software-based exploit.
RegionThree merely requires an SD card and access to the internet, and has been tested on the latest version of the 3DS firmware. The catch is that it doesn't work on the shiny New Nintendo 3DS, so you'll need to have a 3DS, 3DS XL or 2DS to take advantage of this exploit.

There's a, uh, contradiction here...
The browser is the entrypoint for a software exploit.

EDIT: to be clear, I wasn't trying to be a dick or anything. And I just realized--you probably meant "hardware-based exploit", huh? Bah, it's late at night. I can't brain.

Eh, he just took that from an article on Nintendolife. Their mistake.

Region free is easy, it's merely a software flag in the firmware, unlike the olden days where there was a chip in the game AND console.

You mean the really olden days where the cart/slot was a different shape(like n64 etc) for different regions or the data bus was reversed like pc-engine/turbografx or there was a resistor(s) of different value(s)(or no values) soldered (like pc-engine and genesis etc).
