I wish the game menu would be enhanced near the future. Going to the right all the time to get the right game gets a bit tiresome .

you can use this program to sort the roms into a more desirable order, just put them in order of most played to less used....really saves on the scrolling

Gateway is the best choice.

Sky3DS and QQ3DS are mainly target at New3DS users who don't want to wait for GW support, or have 9.3+ FW (doesn't matter the system in that case)

So um, I thought I was on 9.1 or 9.2, but starting to backup all of my games using the exploit in preparation of my Gateway getting here today... and realized I am on 8.1. Is there any reason I should attempt to update sysNAND to 9.2? Any benefit at all?

None that I know of (At least for Gateway's sake)
Themes and settings perhaps if you want that. But just use emuNAND.

Can anyone confirm N3DS in US shipping at 9.4 firmware? If so, then I will aim to spring extra bucks for Sky3DS or QQ3DS (first time reading about it today). I think I'll go for the latter because of DS compatibility.

So I have a New 3DS 9.2 Japanese version...and want to play my games that I have on my USA 3DS XL on my New 3DS, which cart should I buy? Would I be better updating to the newest firmware and getting one of the carts? Thanks!

I would recommend a Gateway. It has region free capabilities.
But the Gateway update for New 3DS is not out yet. It only works (currently) on 4.X-9.2.0-20 on 3DS/3DS XL/2DS

You should bear in mind that Gateway doesn't support your New 3DS at the moment

Yeah I have read that Its not out yet, just wasn't completely sure which I should get. Thanks for the quick reply I have decided to not buy a New 3DS XL since NoA decided not to bring the regular one over which I am then just using my Japanese one, hoping the region unlocking works for it.
