On my JPN N3DS with stock 8.1.0-0J, I can not.

When I try to open the Browser, I get the message:

Which in a nutshell says "To use this utility you must perform a system update. Update now?"

So please try to open the Browser on your JPN N3DS and report:

Well that's creepish. I have my Jap N3DS on my shelf, on 9.2J. I don't even sort of want to try. I really feel as though they'll use some sort of downgrading method, to somehow get the 2DS and the N3DSs to 4.X... somehow...

PSP did it with the Time Machine, so...

That's exactly the reason why Gateway has to use Mii exploit but not browser exploit to launch.

Nintendo intends to force update even if you only wants to use browser.

I do remember; the initial guide mentioned using Mii Plaza or something, rather than the Browser for N3DSs

I found on maxconsole a user with the same issue, and an EXTREMELY risky "solution":

I'm very worried about that because if GW supports N3DS with an exploit working from Browser or QR code, I'm screwed.

Ah, I'm guessing this is because none of the system apps are installed. Makes sense. 9.0+ 3DSs are probably going to have better luck in that case.

Yes, it is confirmed in the 3DSWiki: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/8.1.0-0_New3DS

Note that the New3DS Internet Browser is not available on this system-version(spider and SKATER titles are not installed), it was added with this. Trying to launch the browser results in the system going to the system-update section under System Settings.

I notice most users who reported are in the same boat on 8.1.
Trying to contact them, maybe someone knows a solution (knows a jpn game card with the good update 9.1)

I emailed GW about this and got the usual generic shit reply, which I already know N3DS is currently not supported and that was not my question. They are keeping closed lids on this, yet I suspect we wont be able to due to hardware changes.

Im in the same boat as you, I was hoping some of the 8.1 games would update the eshop and add the internet browser but nope just a big NOPE. I was actually hoping that gateway would force their users to 9.2 that way I can get my New 3ds on 9.2. Wouldve been a great idea for them to do that and block that leaked cfw and eliminate the clones.

Btw, what ensuing screen shows this message. I can read KataKana, yet my Hirigana is not up to scratch and cannot read Kanji. One screen showed AC, which I backed out as that was probabaly a FW update to 9.4 so I shut it off.

retro, if you accept this screen, you're taken to the System update menu in System config. It's still possible to back out.

I'm sure it'll be via the mii maker or mii plaza, as SonyUSA introduced, earlier. There won't be any problem. Gateway always delivers. Especially when they make a promise.

Yeah, suppose it's just a wait and see game again. I got a 4.5 XL console that I picked up last week that I can use in the meantime. Lucky I didn't pay to much for it since now they will drop in price

Shame there is no game update on a original cart to go to 9.2 on the N3DS LL and they did mention about a cart update in the December 9th Post they made.

Yep seems like the only title with a 9.x update is eShop and EURO, not good for us. :/
