But if you update your system nand to say 9.4 how do you activate the GW menu to be able to downgrade back to 4.5.0 with your original nand?I though all this had been blocked by Nintendo in 9.4. I was just wondering how you do it, if its even possible?

You don't, this is only for Gateway compatible FW's to go back to 4.5.

And it's done! Sysnand is now 4.5 and the 9.4 emunand I set up earlier is still intact and working

Just wondering what the point of downgrading to 4.5 would be..? Now that 7.x to 9.2 has been sorted out a 3DS with any firmware apart from 9.3 or 9.4 can do anything that a 4.5 one can do if you have a Gateway flashcart, right.. ?

You can't get with 9.2 with emunand 9.4 I guess.

Can someone tell me if the nand need to be same as the firmware with the emunand or is just 4.5 ok?

Hardware mods can use the backup NAND.bin to restore you to a working state.

4.5 is the gateway.dg

It's saying if you make a backup of you 8.x nand before you use the gateway.dg you can flash it back any-time you want

We don't know yet. Chances are it can but won't be able to switch WiFi On/Off. That could be done with homebrew later I think.

An user in a spanish forum tried it and said it can't be downgraded.

It's an old Red XL so it was originally pre 4.5
